Kindly help. Thank you.

Bad stuff happening to the 5 this a.m. Grainy screen. Continuous loop alternates with grainy screen, apple icon, with seconds to dark. Can only do limited stuff within a 4 sec window before it shuts itself down. Tried a number of apples fixes & nope, no good.

It's time I replace it.
I got my iCloud turned on now finally.
It's juiced up fully.
So it's getting replaced today.

What new models do I avoid (tech problems, duds, etc)?

As for recommendations of what model to get, given these things, what would you recommend?

1) My eyesight really sucks so I increase the font to max, also zoom in lots on my present phone;
2) I don't do FB, IG, Snap, or listen to tunes/books on my phone;
3) I do follow stocks, weather, highway reports,
4) I take a lot of pics which I email to myself. Pic quality is important but I do well with editing afterwards on an iPad.
5) I don't bank, shop, book, or scan many regular sites
6) I do google retail (I'm an authenticator for resale goods)
7) I text an awful lot. I send pics via text lots.
8) I follow fracking data, related stuff with maps.
9) I read my email on my phone sometimes but don't really respond to emails; I prefer an iPad.
10) Phone size maybe doesn't matter so much. I don't walk and text. It ain't glued to me. But I've really small hands .. I do tend to stick my phone in front pockets, workout hoodies, or use smaller purses/evening/clutch bags. I walk more than drive.

Thank you ++ I need to go work out. Then I need to get at this.

Iphone7 fits in my front pocket just barely. 7 plus no way. The camera is truly awesome. I'm continually surprised by how good the pictures are, especially in low or uneven light.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Ok. I think I know ... it'll be a 7. I just need to wear some jeans and my usual jacket to test out normal vs jumbo sized.

Thank you. You guys get 🤗 and smoochies!

I have an iPhone 7, and it works for me.
But if you want bigger text/bigger screen, and better camera, the iPhone 7 Plus gives you both. The iPhone 7 Plus's camera subsystem really is materially different from the iPhone 7 (sans Plus)'s.
Which ever one you choose, good luck!

I know a couple of women with your specifications. They both love the iPhone 7 Plus.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

I don't know what Jon wears, but I've certainly never had any issues fitting my iPhone 7 Plus in any pockets. Definitely compare the 7 and 7 plus side by side as they are essentially the same minus the size and a fancier camera on the plus. The screen on the plus is a huge plus if you spend much time on your phone.

Now that I have the large screen I could never go back. I previously had an SE. When I bought the plus I gave the SE to my best friend. Whenever she shows me something on her phone it looks like a little toy iPhone, it is so ridiculously small that I always point out that it couldn't have been that small when I had it. :lol2:

The large screen is a hassle, the small screen is difficult to read.

I went from the big iPad to the small iPad and back again to the big.

The iPhone 5c is as big as I want the phone to be because it fits in the pocket.

I need the device that stretches.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Well. Shopping at the Apple Store was an enjoyable experience (as opposed to previous encounters with Telus). Smart polite kids. Patient. Helpful. I was a "walk-in" but got with a 'Genius' within minutes. I brought my MacBookPro b/c I didn't know what or when I was uploading for backups; I didn't have Siri turned on with my phone thus only had 4 seconds of screen time to scroll through my settings before I got 'grainy screen' then the phone going dead then alive into its weird reboot loop. I got a 7 and they figured out my phone had recently uploaded everything, so they switched out my SIM card, then helped me restore my stuff from the cloud. They taught me some tricks with pics and airdrop, explained a few font tricks ... real nice kids. I was quite tempted to get the + because it was awesome ... loved the zoom; it would've fit in my jacket, but my little hands did need to stretch a bit to cradle it. Something else occurred to me in the store. Kind of silly to most men I'm sure, but when I do housework or work outside, I often stuff my phone into my bra I realised the + wouldn't fit. So, that was the decision breaker. I'm going to try out this camera tomorrow on stuff I'd photographed just yesterday. My gosh though, the clarity with pics is cool. I really love the screen .. a bit bigger than my 5.
Thanks again for your quick help.
I'm kind of in love with these iPad minis. Perhaps this will be my next purchase.

Congratulations on the new phone.

Outside of work, the iPad mini is my most-used consumer electronic device. Love the convenient size and light weight.

I want one.
Funny thing .. because I waited there to find the tech guy to return his cable I was eavesdropping on different customers and their problems. 10 conversations. 9 had cracked screens. But this one older lady, was locked out of her iPad mini. She'd mailed it to her nephew in the Philippines. He'd changed the password before he brought it back to her but forgot what he'd changed it to. Kinda cool, but she was face-timing the kid on another mini and giving him sh*t for it & simultaneously texting a tech guy at BestBuy by phone to email her a receipt with a serial number on it so the Genius guy could reset the locked mini for her. She seemed very at ease doing all this stuff & hugged the kid after he got the mini going. I could really use one of those minis for the map data I look at. And for vacations: I wonder what the cameras are like in those?
