No part of the pipeline will be installed on the Standing Rock reservation.

The part of the project that needs the approval of the Army Corps of Engineers is a sliver of 1,000 feet of federal land – not Standing Rock land – that is part of its crossing beneath Lake Oahe. This part of the pipeline would be tunneled using state of the art Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) through soil nearly 100 feet below the bottom of the lake. This is about 20 times deeper than an existing pipeline that was installed beneath the same lake in 1982 and has operated safely for about 35 years.

In fact, eight pipelines currently pass below Lake Oahe, as well as one high-energy electrical system.

First sources are usually best to understand the underlying issue.

Either the pipeline passes through the tribes' land or it doesn't. If it doesn't, their "underlying issue" is beside the point.

This isn't new information at all. The sioux claim was always totally farcical.

Hence my comment here (last paragraph):

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Nation's military overwhelmingly opposed to pipeline
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Nation's Military Closes Federal Property:

Quote:

While the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers routinely monitors river levels, ice jam flooding can very quickly force water into low-lying areas near the river with little time for reaction, placing anyone in the floodplain at risk for possible injury or death.

Additionally, the letters address the environmental risk to the river and lake from the significant impacts the protest camps have made on the land. Without proper remediation, debris, trash, and untreated waste will wash into the Cannonball River and Lake Oahe.

Soil erosion and non-point source pollution in these waterways is also a serious concern. On the approximately 50 acres where protest camps are located, grass has been removed or destroyed by the unauthorized placement of structures, vehicles, personal property, and fires. Soil erosion from a lack of vegetation cover will be exacerbated if flooding does occur, and could result in contaminated sediment runoff into the Cannonball River and Lake Oahe.

Today's issuance of notices is unrelated to the Army's ongoing full review and analysis of the pipeline easement.

“As stewards of the public lands and natural resources, we have a responsibility to the public to prevent injuries and loss of life. We must also ensure our precious water resources are free from pollution due to human activities and respect for all who rely on this water for their livelihoods,” said U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District Commander, Col. John Henderson. “Public safety will continue to be our top priority.”

Reminds me of the aftermath of Woodstock.
Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments
and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

In all fairness, the Native American tribe responsible for the protest taking the lead and is paying for the majority of the cleanup.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

That's good. Kudos to them.

Still, shame on those who left the mess for others to clean up.

Speaking of things left behind:
Quote:

Two dogs and six puppies were found and rescued at the main Dakota Access Pipeline Camp by Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue.

The rescue group has been working hard to catch all the animals that were left behind at the camp.

"Extremely sad being these guys were left behind. But we offer, Furry Friends offers hope," Tiffany Hardy with the rescue group said. "I mean there's so much hope within Furry Friends as far as these puppies finding homes."

Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue said they plan to go back to the protests camps to catch more animals. They said they're having a hard time because the loud machinery is scaring the animals.

"It's a mess down there, so it's really, really hard to find these animals and get them," Julie Schirado with the rescue group said.

They are planning to go back to the camps every weekend if they have enough volunteers and if they're able to get into the campsite.

"We have a couple cases of mange," Hardy said. "I know we've had some problems with claws that haven't been clipped before."

Some of the animals have frost bitten ears and patchy fur.
I guess they weren't PETA members.
