Finally
Last November, Mrs. George and I took a "Swamp Tour" in Slidell, LA. We saw a fair number of boats like that. As we rode past them I kept hearing "Dueling Banjos."

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Nah, that's just an old-timey camp in the swamp. The kind we used to build before we got too much money. If it floods or a hurricane comes through and tears it apart, what have you lost? Yes, some time and some sweat, but not a lot in material, since most of those old camps were constructed of begged, borrowed and free stuff. And they were made to wash out after having flood water in them...no insulation, except in the attic, solid wood or plywood walls and floor, tin roofs and all the wiring is in the attic with dropdowns to the receptacle and switches, which are placed a bit higher than normal.

OTOH, that's a pretty nice houseboat, albeit a bit on the small side for constant living. Down here, it's more common to see a "floating house", which is a houseboat built on a small barge hull or for the frugal among us, a houseboat built using plastic drums as flotation. The guys build a transom on the front or back to put a small kicker (10-15hp) and move them around a bit. Most of the time, they tend to stay tied up in the same place.

Something more like this:
