Terry McCauliffe PAC gave $500K to Senate candidate. Who just happens to be the wife of the #2 man at the FBI.

Quote:

he political organization of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, an influential Democrat with longstanding ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton, gave nearly $500,000 to the election campaign of the wife of an official at the Federal Bureau of Investigation who later helped oversee the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s email use.

Campaign finance records show Mr. McAuliffe’s political-action committee donated $467,500 to the 2015 state Senate campaign of Dr. Jill McCabe, who is married to Andrew McCabe, now the deputy director of the FBI.

The Virginia Democratic Party, over which Mr. McAuliffe exerts considerable control, donated an additional $207,788 worth of support to Dr. McCabe’s campaign in the form of mailers, according to the records. That adds up to slightly more than $675,000 to her candidacy from entities either directly under Mr. McAuliffe’s control or strongly influenced by him. The figure represents more than a third of all the campaign funds Dr. McCabe raised in the effort.
...
The governor could recall only one meeting with Mr. McCabe—when he and other state Democrats met with the couple on March 7, 2015, to urge Dr. McCabe to run, according to the spokesman.
That's 5 days after the New York Times revealed the existence of Mrs. Clinton's private server.

But, like I said, nothing to see here.
Quote:

FBI officials said that after that meeting with the governor in Richmond on March 7, Mr. McCabe sought ethics advice from the bureau and followed it, avoiding involvement with public corruption cases in Virginia, and avoiding any campaign activity or events.

In a related story, John Bentel, the State Department IT guy who testified before Congress that he had no knowledge of Mrs. Clinton's private email setup testified and claimed his 5th Amendment right.

Quote:

On August 19, 2016, Judge Sullivan granted Judicial Watch’s request to depose Bentel, citing significant discrepancies in Bentel previous statements on the Clinton non-state.gov email system:

Quote:

The Court is persuaded that Mr. Bentel should be deposed because the record in this case appears to contradict his sworn testimony before the [House Select] Benghazi Committee. . . . Specifically, Mr. Bentel testified that he was not aware that Secretary Clinton’s email account was housed on a private server until media reports in 2015. . . . However, several emails indicate Mr. Bentel knew about the private server as early as 2009.

In ordering Bentel’s deposition, Judge Sullivan also cited a May, 2016 Inspector General’s report that found:

Quote:

Mr. Bentel told employees in his office that Secretary Clinton’s email arrangement had been approved by the State Department’s legal staff and also instructed his subordinates not to discuss the Secretary’s email again:

In one meeting, one staff member raised concerns that information sent and received on Secretary Clinton’s account could contain Federal records that needed to be preserved in order to satisfy Federal recordkeeping requirements. According to the staff member, the Director stated that the Secretary’s personal system had been reviewed and approved by Department legal staff and that the matter was not to be discussed any further. . . . According to the other S/ES-IRM staff member who raised concerns about the server, the Director stated that the mission of S/ES-IRM is to support the Secretary and instructed the staff never to speak of the Secretary’s personal email system again.

Clinton personally headlined fundraiser for PAC
Quote:

EXCLUSIVE: Clinton headlined fundraiser for campaign group which gave $500,000 to wife of FBI boss who investigated her emails - and it's closely linked to Hillary's bid for power
DailyMail.com reveals just how closely linked Clinton is to PAC which gave massive donation to Virginia politician married to FBI deputy director

Common Good VA gave $500,000 to Jill McCabe whose husband Andrew ran probe into Clinton's secret server which ended with no prosecution

PAC is controlled by Terry McAuliffe, Virginia governor and Clinton ultra-loyalist - and Hillary headlined fundraiser just before it gave McCabe cash

On top of that series of Clinton powerhouses have been on payroll of PAC including Robby Mook, her campaign manager

And Clinton family financiers poured cash into its coffers, including Doug Band, who was Bill Clinton's closest aide

McCabe denies conflict of interest but one group said of $500,000 donation: 'It looks like a payoff.'

Campaign won't say if Clinton met Jill McCabe at fundraiser

Wow, so Hillary knew way back then that McCabe would be promoted to deputy director someday. Damn, she's good. Or maybe she has a time machine.

Either way, I'm with her.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

McCabe was already #3 at the time. No time machine needed.

But he wasn't even nominally in charge of the investigation until he was promoted.

WaPo says McCauliffe gave even more money to two other VA Senate candidates. Do you have a theory that ties them to Hillary's investigation?

When the FBI officially launched the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s server, Andrew McCabe was running the bureau’s D.C. field office, which allocated resources and personnel to the email probe. It wasn’t until February 2016 that he became deputy director, however.
So, he wasn't exactly distant.

I can picture how the meeting went:

McCabe: "You guys better not indict or I'll pull Special Agent Jones and put her back on Narcotics"

Lead investigator: "Ok, ok. We'll close the investigation. Just don't pull Jones."

McCauliff: "Thanks, Andy. Here's 500k for the Missus."
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
