Want some really good TV?

Black Mirror on Netflix.

It's an anthology series, and seems to be a cross between the Outer Limits and the Twilight Zone. I've watched the 1st season in the last few weeks (3 episodes).

Episode 1: The daughter of the Duke of Windsor (I think) is kidnapped. The kidnapper is threatening to kill her, unless the PM performs an unspeakable act on live TV. That's all I'll say.

Episode 2: In a dystopian society, where people are riding stationary bicycles to provide energy and earn credits, a girl and her friend try to get out of the rut by performing on an "American Idol" type of show.

Episode 3: In an alternate reality, everyone has a "grain" implanted in their skin which records everything they see, hear and say. Various characters enjoy watching others' "memories," sometimes with disastrous results.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Fantastic stuff. Lots of good twists, and some of them are very very disturbing.

A summary of season 3, episode 1:
Quote:

The selves we present on our social media accounts — Instagram, Twitter, whatever — aren’t really, well, us. They’re the pretty versions of us, the happy versions, the ones whose lives are all magic, all the time. No one wants to see our sadness or our pain or a selfie we took at 4 a.m. when we were up sick with a stomach bug — so we don’t show them. We save that side of ourselves for real interactions, for our friends and family and partners. There, we can be judged, sure, but we’re not looking for hearts or likes. We’re just looking for connection. But what if the opportunity for that, too, was taken away? What if every single in-person encounter was up for consideration, a real-life Yelp-style rating that affects your reputation?

Cool. I'll have to check it out soon. I've been sick as all hell this week, so I can't be in any way productive. I've been on a massive, massive Netflix bender.
I cite irreconcilable differences.
