Very long. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/10/neither-trump-nor-clinton-is-the-end-of-the-republic/501971/ The only reason I'm linking it is because of one of the comments I read: "To be fair, Caligula wasn't the end of the Roman Empire." |

Like this guy, you mean? "Last month, the Claremont Institute published an essay by a different author positing that we're amid a "Flight 93 Election," where our fate is either certain death at the hands of terrorists (a Hillary Clinton victory) or very likely death as we rush the cockpit to stop them (a Donald Trump victory)."

The country has survived Nazis, a civil war, British imperialism and even beer so bland and tasteless that it would require re-classification under current EU guidelines. It's a little much to claim that a 70 year old lady on the verge of death or a pathetic reality TV star desperate for attention is going to be worse than those assaults on common decency. |

After Hillary loses the election, I wonder how much longer she'll continue trying to hide her Parkinsons?..... |

No one thing ends an empire. But some people feel that this election is just one of many chinks that will bring us down. |

Really what it is, is us. With Black Lives Matter, the Tea Party's complete government lockup, the crazy shit that's been happening on the campaign trail and myriad other things, we've proven that we can't have a civil discussion with people we disagree with. We're incapable as a people to agree to disagree. And we all expect someone else to make our lives better for us. Liberals expect the government to eliminate bias, make life fair and more importantly, make everyone think like they do. Conservatives expect the government to fix everything the liberals have done and make their lives easier. No one's talking about putting in any work—into their communities, their businesses, the economy, the racial divide or the social divide. It's all blame. And blame is what we want to hear, so that's how we get guys like Trump up there. He's the perfect candidate for a country that's fed up with its government but doesn't want to do dick about fixing it themselves. Put a blowhard up there who appeals to their anti-establishment bias and they're satisfied. Hillary's strategy makes perfect sense, too, given the people she has to work with as a base. They're both just salesmen responding to the political market, so it's not them that's the problem, it's what we said we all wanted. |

There's an extremely offensive joke in there somewhere regarding Donald Trump's proposed trade restrictions, which even I can see is best left alone. |

It's not that offensive if you put the right slant on it.
