I'm sitting here in my hospital gown awaiting two steroid injections in my shoulder. Ayup, I will be on double steroids very soon.

If you thought I was bad before, ....

Heh. Y'all best watch out. Middle-aged woman on steroids headed your way! :smokin:

I hope Mr. Brenda is prepared for what's about to hit him.

Mrs. D'Oh had steroid injections a couple of years ago to get rid of a systemic poison ivy reaction - she was like a woman possessed for a couple of weeks, and clearly expected me to share her sudden enthusiasm for getting tons of freaking stuff done IMMEDIATELY!

Oh, I wish!

Mine is in the Acromioclavicular joint and the Glenohumeral joint in my right shoulder. Not nearly as systemic as what your sweet bride had.

Although I could be convinced that it should have the same effect on hubby! Now there's an idea! Thanks, John! :)

Yeah, intra-arcticular steroids won't give you the buzz like a nice shot of Prednisone in the butt.

But that's between us, 'mkay?

:lol2: Probably from her tugging at it?

Aww, it's good for you. Just think of all the trouble she keeps you from getting into. Just don't think about it too much. Temptation and all that.

So how are you feeling now, brenda?
Sore at the injection sites, and I'm on pain killers for a while yet. I think I'll know more by tomorrow. The best news is that it does not seem to have crystallized in the joint as it did last March. That hurt like a son-of-a-gun for a couple days.

I had a more experienced doctor this time, and he was very firm that I will not be able to use my shoulder any more than I did before the injections, which is what I expected to hear, and how I've treated it since March. He also gave me a list of permanent no-nos, things I am not supposed to do at all, and he means forever. No lifting with that arm/shoulder, other than just light little things. No exercise or activity that involves pushing or pulling. Nothing that causes me any pain in the shoulder at all. He says it's really quite damaged, and would only get worse.

Not that kind of injections, Larry, but if it would make the hair on my head fuller, I might go for that. :lol2:

It's alright. I'm really not here to complain. It's just a thing, and I'm glad there are ways to handle it. I feel lucky there are. :)

That's really a shame.

Maybe after some time passes and things improve, you could consider another opinion . . . ?

Or you could take terrible advantage and get hubby to do everything. Forever.

Wow, Brenda.

How are you feeling today?
Still sore, but that's to be expected. Those are some long honkin' needles they use to get into the joints. It's going to be a few days even before that pain goes away, but it's worth a few days of this to get the relief for six months.

I deliberately left my schedule open for a few days, so things are low key here at home. I made some dinners ahead that can be reheated, so I don't even have to cook for a while. That's the beauty of having a scheduled procedure like this, I can make it easier on myself and hubby to get through these days.

And I can hang out here to harrass all those who need some of that! That's why I issued a warning. Although, all spankings will have to be delegated from now forward. I'll sure miss giving those! :lol2:

I'll see who should undertake that necessary task in due time.

Well, that's the problem, there really isn't much that can be done. I'm still going to try some physical therapy, but that's only to help the muscles to relax in the shoulder. They've been all tensed up for so long trying to protect the joint, and now they are like the screamin' mimis a lot of the time. But that won't fix the damage in the joints. The doc made that very clear yesterday. He did like Moses and handed me a list of thou shalt nots. :lol2:

Yes, I can still treadmill. See? This could be worse. So I'm actually okay with this, and truly grateful for the relief that is headed my way. I have a family history of arthritis from my dad's side of the family, and I have it in other joints, so there it is.
