My daily walks

While the weather holds I've been doing my daily walks along the Old Croton Aquaduct, much of which is now a very long, very narrow state park. It was the original aqueduct built to bring water to NYC from upstate, constructed in the 1830s. It has been out of commission for 60 years or so but the long, relatively flat trail is still used quite a bit.

Here's a few pictures I've taken in the past couple of days. Sure beats a treadmill, doesn't it?

(For those interested in such things, there's a lot of info at the wiki link, it was quite an engineering project back in its day.)
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

That's great, Jon. Looks like a wonderful walk. How long do you go for?

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Usually only 30-45m. I'd go longer but I also hit the weights and the bike daily too.

Yep, those things make for ideal walking and biking paths. That looks like a great one.

One thing that kinda strikes me when going on one of those: we completely take for granted the danger in traveling now. I mean sure you can die in a car accident, but I think most of us rarely consider it.

Used to be, striking out onto the road meant you had to plan for the weather—because it could kill you and you had no idea what was going to happen in the next couple of days—you had to bring provisions, and you sure as hell couldn't trust any strangers you met along the way. Footpaths were pretty lawless areas.

Traveling on paths like that used to be a big deal, and a significant risk. Now, we never even think about it.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Beautiful.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

It's nice that you get that all to yourself. Is it something you can walk to from your home?

I was just thinking that is going to be gorgeous in 2-3 weeks.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.
