Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

ZOOOOOM!
Rad, Kathy.

I'm now within driving distance to some of the easiest and hardest stretches of the AT. Done some hard stuff, but haven't tried much of the flatland out yet. Thinking fall would be a pretty ideal time.

EDIT
He sure as shit didn't, George!
I cite irreconcilable differences.

11 miles there and back, and with some vertical climbing clinging to a few (too few) strategically placed iron rungs and A LOT of rock scrambling. Honestly, though, the absolute worst was coming down. It is an amazingly beautiful place. Started at 7:15 am and didn't finish until 5 pm. I seriously thought my legs were going to give out toward the end. I really look forward to going back and do some more exploring and shorter hikes.

Posted ImageThis photo is not the clearest, but it shows just how high we were. All those little dots and lines of blue are lakes.

Better take precautions tonight or your legs will be in agony tomorrow or maybe even worse the next day. Keep your muscles from stiffening up. Or else: Screams of agony.

I don't know of my own experience, but I have always heard good things about Epsom salts.

We really lucked out with the weather. As you can see, it was a beautiful day. I was sweating bullets coming up, with 65 degrees or so until the end of tree line, then it really cooled down. At the top, it was quite frigid, especially as clouds were blowing over. Weather this time of the year can be really iffy.

I had to look that up. This IS the end of the line of the A.T. I feel sorry for those finishing it because they still have to do the treacherous walk back down. Shouldn't there be an airlift or something? Speaking of airlifts, I heard from a ranger on the way down that one woman had to be carried down because her legs had given out.

It was fun encountering some of the hardy ones who had clearly been hiking for a long, long time - maybe the whole trail. They were all sinewy, dirty, bearded (the men anyway) and almost wild eyed, some of them. I can really see how one could be bit by the bug. Just being at the campground at the start of the trail made me a little envious of those who could really spend some serious time on the trail.

People love "A Walk in the Woods."

I was not that impressed, and, considering Bryon's other works, it was a letdown. However, if you've done part of the trail, you might find it amusing.

I did an arnica rub last night. Hopefully helped a bit. The pain is worse today than it was yesterday (the day after), but that's how it always works with me.

You've been checking out the mail order brides, Tom? I don't know much about that stuff, but I've heard that old men lose a lot of money chasing that. I would imagine the ugly ones would be honest though, and since your standards don't seem to be all that high, maybe you should give it a shot.

For what, Tom? I know you're trying to take another cheap shot at my wife, you sorry piece of sh!t, but it won't work. I met my wife here, working as an RN in a local hospital.

And if you say anything else about my wife, I will hunt you down.

Larry, you did.

Leave Kathy alone and we have no problems. You don't have to love her. Just leave her alone. Other wise ever day, every post I will discuss you. I will take you apart.

And you know I can.

Love,

TomK

I hadn't posted a god damned thing in this thread. I read your swipe about mail order brides and knew exactly what your game was. I never mentioned Kathy once. YOU started it, and I will end it.

Now I will say it one last time - say something else about my wife Tom. Find out for yourself what happens.

I just surmised your were interested in such things. If you didn't pay JUST SAY SO.

You are reading too much into what I'm posting. Take a break!

Larry,

Say nothing about Kathy EVER--and I will say nothing about your wife.

I have no issues, just be nice. But your are hurtful--and I can be too. Sorry it has to be this way.

Say OK and we'll kiss and make up. :)

First off, I never said a thing about Kathy. She was talking about hiking. No reason for me to comment. YOU chose to take a back handed swipe at my wife, and I hadn't posted a single word. I called you on it, and STILL never mentioned Kathy.

YOU made it about Kathy. I was minding my own business.

You make fun of my wife again and I will hunt you down and stomp you. Simple as that.

Second, unless I mention your wife, you don't get to tell me what I can or cannot say about anyone else. Nobody died and made you God. So if I say something to Kathy and you don't like it, keep your f*cking mouth shut. I don't take orders from you or anyone else.
