ZOOOOOM!

So there's a guy I work with who's very easy-going and relaxed. Very nice guy, but he's also the 'fire marshal' for the building, and for whatever reason he's actually quite serious about this responsibility. Not in an authoritative way; he's just very serious about people knowing what to do during an emergency. (I have my own theories about why he takes it so seriously, but that's just an aside.) He went into his manager's office yesterday and told him, "so, there have been some changes regarding the fire head count procedure, and I think it would be important for everyone to know. We should have a meeting, shouldn't we, to discuss it? Well actually okay, maybe not, maybe I'll just send an e-mail." His boss didn't blink for a second. (The level of guile here is really inspiring.) "Look, Dave, no, you're right. You and I, we both know how important this is. Let's just call a quick meeting and get everybody in here so you can tell them what the updates are." So he proceeds to send out a mass email scheduling an emergency all-hands meeting for the afternoon. The meeting was complete nonsense and basically a run-through of how to count in order. All he wanted to do was put one over on Dave. But here's the sheer artistry of it: some people knew it was a total nonsense meeting, some people knew that but didn't know Dave wasn't in on it, and still others had no idea it was a nonsense meeting and thought it was actually important. And Dave's boss just sat there and took it all in. He said later, "Easily the most fun I've had at Dave's expense all week. And it's not even Thursday." Absolutely slow-clap worthy. |

Yeah, well, if it helps, that group's pretty tight with one another and it all goes around in a circle. Dave gets his own licks in, in his own way. No nasty sentiments held.

HOLY CARP!!!

Yup, it's the geeky guy with his sole piece of authority in his life thwarted and mocked as he tries to do his job. I wouldn't be surprised it Aqua and everyone else in the office wasn't dead in a week. Stay tuned to the news--:D |

The guy in the office next to mine is pretty tightly wound. He also likes guns and stuff. His boss told me yesterday he'd just rejected his expense claim for some pretty obvious sh!t. If I suddenly stop posting, you'll know why. |

Jokes are like beer. If you run out, you can always steal somebody else's. |
