I was actually disappointed that they didn't ask about "real" American traits like that ;)

Regarding question 1, I'm at the point now where if I hear someone say "We the people" during a political debate it's really hard for me not to roll my eyes and consider them a nutter from the get-go.

That was ridiculous. I purposely answered everything wrong, and it gave me a result of "Proud to be an American!"

I was too lazy to answer the questions.

Not only am I an American - I'm a Democrat!

This actually wouldn't be a bad tester of voter IQ that I am wishing for more and more seriously.

I have not wished for an IQ test, but for a voter literacy test. If you don't understand what you are voting about you should not be allowed to vote. Voting may be a right, but it is also a responsibility, a fact that is too often lost.

We have no concept of responsibilities in America anymore. None. Liberals expect the government to give them shit and for the rest of us to accommodate their douchebaggery, and conservatives expect the very government they say is too big to make the world all right with them again.

It's no one's idea to actually go out and do something.

Yep. Been ragging on about this for years now. Everyone knows their rights. Almost no one their responsibilities. That, not money, will be the downfall of the republic.

I do see some possibilities, though. A lot of folks who just used YouTube, Instagram and other social media sites to dick around are now eking out a living there, then going full-time (or have ambitions to do so), and through that, a lot of people are learning about how to stake a claim into something.

But there are still a shit-ton who just want to sit back and complain or be given stuff.

My test would address both. And I wrote 'IQ test' but I didn't actually mean IQ; I meant a subject matter test, with the subject matter being America. Such a test would also require a literacy level that would equip them adequately without demanding more than is necessary.

I'm thinking of two groups: Those who get through school by hook or crook, either by politickin or by getting passed on up because they're too hopelessly unqualified (this is done quite a lot, I gather) to absorb the material; the other group is the instant citizen, who acquire citizenship for the benefits and without any interest in contributing as citizens.

By 'instant citizen', do you mean naturalized American? There's a test that's given as part of the citizenship application. I suspect quite a few natural-born Americans wouldn't pass.

^_^ It's true, but I try to do stuff. Most of which has not been a rousing success but at least I'm giving something a shot on my own without expectations.
