...they're in the business of *looking* clean.

Said TomK, many years ago.

Want proof?

They don't change the sheets.

Quote:

Inside Edition stayed in nine upmarket hotels in New York and allegedly found three hadn't changed or washed their bedding before new customers arrived.

At a Marriott Residence Inn in Manhattan, they sprayed a message using invisible paint, that easily comes off in the laundry, on the bottom sheet of the bed.

The words which can only be seen under a UV light read: 'I slept here.'

The production team checked out, leaving the bed looking as though it was slept in.

Later on they checked into the same room under a different name, and found the message was still on the bottom sheet.

'This is absolutely disgusting,' said Inside Edition's Ann Mercogliano.

They allegedly found the same thing happened at the The Candlewood Inn & Suites in Times Square and La Quinta Inn & Suites near Central Park.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

The sheets were always my one hope. So long as they were changed, I figured I could survive the rest.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

But does the difference between "clean" and "looking clean" make any tangible difference? Maybe it is good enough if we merely believe that it is clean.

I have slept in hundreds of hotel rooms and never had a problem with dirty sheets. I think when you go to New York City to do these things you run a higher risk. It ain't easy to keep a business afloat in that town.

Any time I stay at a hotel or motel, the first thing I do after I get to my room is call the desk and ask them to have a maid come up and change the sheets. I *watch* her change the sheets. And I inspect the mattress before she puts the clean ones on.

We are pretty picky for a society that is only one generation into indoor plumbing.

As anyone who's been with jon's sister will tell you, it makes all the difference in the world.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Hotels/motels are under two pressures--getting housekeepers to clean the rooms on time (very low pay no incentive to actually "do" the job--AND Indian (from India) ownership who are in the business to make as much money and get the hell out. (One third of American hotels are owned by Indians.)
