...they're in the business of *looking* clean. Said TomK, many years ago. Want proof? They don't change the sheets.

The sheets were always my one hope. So long as they were changed, I figured I could survive the rest. |

HOLY CARP!!!

But does the difference between "clean" and "looking clean" make any tangible difference? Maybe it is good enough if we merely believe that it is clean. |

I have slept in hundreds of hotel rooms and never had a problem with dirty sheets. I think when you go to New York City to do these things you run a higher risk. It ain't easy to keep a business afloat in that town. |

Mmmmmmm, pie!
|
Any time I stay at a hotel or motel, the first thing I do after I get to my room is call the desk and ask them to have a maid come up and change the sheets. I *watch* her change the sheets. And I inspect the mattress before she puts the clean ones on. |

We are pretty picky for a society that is only one generation into indoor plumbing. |

Hotels/motels are under two pressures--getting housekeepers to clean the rooms on time (very low pay no incentive to actually "do" the job--AND Indian (from India) ownership who are in the business to make as much money and get the hell out. (One third of American hotels are owned by Indians.) |
