Obama doesn't care about white people.
Pretty hard to not swing at that piñata wasn't it? :lol2:
Bit surprised it was still left to me.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards is defending the Obama administration's response to the severe flooding in his state.

President Barack Obama has received criticism for staying on vacation rather than traveling to Louisiana to see the damage first-hand.

But Edwards said Thursday that he's spoken with the White House daily and has received quick responses for each request he's made to the administration. He noted that FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate visited the state Tuesday and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson was in-state Thursday.

Edwards said he is "not complaining in any way about our federal partnership."

He added that while the President can visit whenever he'd like, he'd prefer him to wait "a week or two" because such visits require local police and first responders to help block roads and provide security.

Both Obama and Edwards are Democrats.

Jolly voted for John Bel Edwards, by the way. I've heard good things.

Just flying over the area would be insensitive, of course.

But, less labor-intensive.

hat's why Obama won't break off his vacation in Martha's Vineyard — or stop playing golf on said vacation — to travel to Louisiana. Because he believes he can monitor the situation as well — or better — from where he is. And that the sole reason to go to Louisiana is for the theatrical piece of politics, a piece that he not only rejects but detests.

Make it a double:
Quote:

President Obama walked among 10-foot-tall piles of tornado debris littered with children’s schoolbooks on Sunday as he offered the condolences of a nation to a town nearly wiped off the map by a storm.

Standing next to the rubble that was once Plaza Towers Elementary School — and the place where seven children lost their lives when the tornado touched down a week ago — the president declared his confidence that Moore would rebuild and recover, and he pledged the support of his government, and the nation, toward that goal.

“This is a strong community with strong character,” Mr. Obama said with a grim face as he stood with Mary Fallin, the Republican governor of Oklahoma, and other local officials. “There’s no doubt they will bounce back. But they need help.”

A president who is often locked in a struggle with Republicans over their disdain for expansive federal agencies, Mr. Obama has repeatedly found himself pledging the full power of the government to confront natural disasters. On Tuesday, the president will return to the New Jersey coast to witness the rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy.

Chaser:
Quote:

Donald Trump landed Friday in flood-ravaged Louisiana Friday, where he consoled homeowners and toured devastated communities, telling one homeowner he is "going to rebuild."

The Republican presidential nominee, with running mate Mike Pence at his side, stopped at the home of Jimmy and Olive Gordan in Denham Springs, where the couple was still sweeping out floodwaters from their home. A ruined couch, chair and bedroom furniture were piled on their lawn, and Jimmy Gordan told Trump he spent his 79th birthday on the roof of his house.

Hangover:
Quote:

While in Martha’s Vineyard, the President has received updates on the situation in Louisiana, including from the DHS Secretary and the FEMA Administrator, who took separate trips there. The President today directed his team to coordinate with Louisiana officials to determine an appropriate time for him to visit, and together they have determined that the President will visit Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Tuesday, August 23rd. Additional details will be announced in the coming days. The President is mindful of the impact that his travel has on first responders and wants to ensure that his presence does not interfere with ongoing recovery efforts. He is also eager to get a first-hand look at the impact of the devastating floods, hear from more officials about the response, including how the federal government can assist and tell the people of Louisiana that the American people will be with them as they rebuild their community and come back stronger than ever.

Cirrhosis:
Quote:

Campaigning for president a few years later, he slammed Bush for flying Air Force One over the floods. "We can talk about what happened for two days in 2005 and we should. We can talk about levees that couldn't hold, a FEMA that seemed not just incompetent but paralyzed and powerless, about a president who only saw the people from the window of an airplane instead of down here on the ground."

John Galt, you can try to spin this any way you want, but it won't fly. It's to be expected that the left will make excuses for their candidates and their party, but it would be a good thing if the rank and file liberal/leftist/democrat would stop regurgitating it.

The facts are that when Obama was running against Bush, he attacked Bush for not going *immediately* to the scene of Katrina. When he did that, all the leftwing democrat bobble heads rushed out to carry his water, vilifying Bush for not going fast enough. Now we have a situation that's just as bad, and the bobble heads are busy telling us how it's a bad thing to go - and quoting democrat propagandists' articles to justify the hypocrisy. Your dear leader Obama is yucking it up on the golf course, and hasn't even bothered to pick up a damned phone and make a statement, much less go.

Another fact is, the people who live down there and are suffering from this disaster are almost unanimous in their opinion that Obama can kiss their asses, and that they appreciate Trump taking the time to visit and bring attention to their plight.

And your "dear leader in waiting" - just like always, she issues a short one or two sentence "I feel your pain/someone ought to do something" poll driven, scripted, written for her by somebody else statement, and then ran off to meet with Obama at a fund raiser.

When are you democrats going to stop defending your party - a party that has failed at EVERY idea they've ever put into motion, and whose only success has been the way it has managed to brainwash its followers in this way?

Sorry to read that the property damage is so widespread.
Hopefully the human casualty is much less.

I think King Putt should stay on vacation, and stay out of the way.

Yes . . . what's he supposed to do, swim around going "tsk-tsk"? That's why there are phones. If the federal response is strong and effective -- a big if, I know -- then Louisiana can make better use of FEMA than they can of the President.

Does anyone know how much state resources need to go into a Presidential visit? For all we know, Obama talked to the Louisiana people and it was decided LA was too busy to deal with the circus BS of a Prez visit.

On the other hand, golfing seems a bit in-your-face.

People only ever complain about the President taking a vacation when they don't like him. It's a universal thing. It's always struck me as a bit stupid. Anybody can see what the stress of being in charge does to people. I've never understood why anybody with an ounce of sanity would want the job.

Presidents may be many things, but lazy isn't one of them.

Indeed, the Louisiana Governor is concerned that a Presidential visit might divert valuable resources from relief efforts to president security detail, and said that he's hoping the POTUS would give them a week or two before visiting. See:

Imagine what would have been said if right after the 9-11 attack, the president had merely made a phone call.

Instead, he showed up - state resources were spent. Time was taken up that could have been spent on something else. He created a "circus". But in doing so, he rallied the American people, from New York City to the Mexican border, to shift into action.

It doesn't make a damn bit of sense to attempt to portray this in any other way than it is - Obama is busy playing golf, he isn't running for office, and he doesn't give a damn. If he had "talked to the Louisiana people" someone in the press would be throwing it up in our faces - they're not.

This "look at how much it would have cost for him to come" business is crap.

I remember during Obama's first term, somebody in the media kvetched because Obama spent 72 HOURS golfing last year! 72 HOURS! (Or whatever it was, I don't remember.)

Just for snicks I computed it, and it turns out to amount to something like one golf game a week. What sounded like a frickin hanging offense in this guy's article was actually reasonable break time away from the desk.

And if he had gone down there and rolled up his sleeves and helped the locals, your truth-tellers would have accused him of showboating and winning sympathy for the party.

That was sarcasm, Larry. To wit:

If it's the party line that you so admire, then it's "truth". If it shows even a slightest deviation from what you choose to believe, then it's idiots and left-wing bobbleheads and what-all other insults you dream up.
