HOLY CARP!!!
we all are. Shed a tear on waking and reading GK's post. Not of sadness or happiness, just of "wow this thing I've been concerned about for a long time is actually happening".

But ya know that's jon. He does that to folks.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

I keep thinking of the folks who have been in the waiting room, a little boy wondering about dad.

Why am I worried and concerned, for a guy I've never met other than on an online forum??
Interestingly, I dunno if any other member of TNCR, WTF or Fat Shirley's has met more members than jon.

I cite irreconcilable differences.

It's strange.
Why am I worried and concerned, for a guy I've never met other than on an online forum??

Been thinking about Jon constantly today, wondering how everything went, hoping to hear positive news soon.
Me too.

I wonder how long it will take to find out how it's all going?

Been 14 hours since he let us know (12:30 local time). I imagine they started working at 1:30 or later, probably. So, that's 12 hours since he went in, I'd guess. I can't see this operation taking less than 6-7 hours, easily more if they have to put him on pump.

Then, there's the ICU. That's the rockiest part.

It'll be days.

Nice thoughts, but if nobody make an irreverent remark he might think we don't like him anymore.

Maybe tomorrow.

Me too, Rainman. Just now I looked at the clock; it's 3PM, and I'm wondering if he's out yet.

As Brenda said about me one time -- a great compliment that I cherish -- "She's ours", with a smiley. Jon is ours. We know him in an onlinely way.

That's exactly how it is, at least for me. Jon is very much our Jon, and I care greatly that this goes well for him today. I keep thinking about his little boy and his lovely wife. This has to be a happy and scary day for them.

I'm picturing a waiting room crowded, overflowing with people, people standing in the halls, people snagging passing medical staff, what's the word, candy stripers calling the vending machine account because the machines are all empty; parking lot filled to overflowing, extra police directing traffic, waving lightsticks around -- what's going on? Dunno, I heard the mayor is having surgery, no, not the mayor, the King of Sweden, . . . the "rent is too damn high" guy shows up, street musicians, a guy selling funnel cakes, TV trucks, what's going on? The Queen of England is having surgery . . .

Does someone here have a Facebook connection?

If not do you know the hospital? We can have one of our IT guys peek into their systems for updates.

EDIT

A quick google makes me suspect he is at Duke Pulmonary Transplant Clinic

Why don't you IT guys earn your pay and get us a status

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

This will sound so wrong, so put up with me.

We've had our share of tragedies here: Phlebas, Apple, Vince...

Yet, when it happens, we give each other a virtual hug, mourn and weep. To my knowledge, we have never been in a situation where we sit and worry, waiting for some news.

I hate this.

Yes. It's as others have said: We want to stay up and to maintain the best spirit for our friend, that is of utmost importance, but it is so hard when we can't help worrying.

It's almost 7 o'clock where I am, where Jon is.

You guys worried with me for 3 days. The best support in the world. Yes, I had my family and friends but you guys.... I could be myself around you and didn't have to put on a face and be strong. You guys were and ARE wondrous.

Jon, well he, did so much for us. And was ever a gentleman. When I say "love" I don't use the word lightly.

I hate this too. Keep faith.

Oh, the other thing I worry about is how are we going to deal with the Welsh Kitchen spammers, with him out for a while?
