HOLY CARP!!!

My feelings on all these gawd awful tragedies. It only takes one person. One driver. One mad man. One sicko. But. There are many many more good persons than bad persons. Most importantly, those good persons must do their parts in combatting those bad persons. Please please look inward. What can we do? I look at my family who I thought was as a typically normal great American family. The families who suffered today were probably typically normal great French families. Those families are now thrust into tragedy the way mine was. Blindsided. Out of the blue. Tragic. What can we do? Collectively and individually what can we do? |

The sad truth is, not much . The 21 century will be the century of terror as the 20th was about world war. I don't see any immediate solution. |

No immediate solution, you're probably right. But my grandchildren?? Hmmmm. Only if we raise them right. But why do we have to go thru this century after century? Crap. It's like a living hell. Pisses me off big time. |

ZOOOOOM!

My take is that the world's just broke, JustMe. That means natural disasters, that human beings are able to concoct terrible plans and then execute them, and that human frailty gets in the way, somehow, in every interaction you're ever going to have with someone. But it's not all horrible. We still build roads to get people where they need to go, we have police who try to protect and serve the public, just like their badge says, we have guys in the military trying to give people in foreign countries something to call their own so that they don't become hopeless and radicalized. And there are a whole bunch of people who just try to do right by one another. Then there's all the fun stuff. We're building the James Webb Space Telescope, a hundred times more powerful than the Hubble. Just to do it. There was a guy in England who created a free, uncopyrighted system for computers to interact with one another. Toddlers now have access to information the likes of which emperors would have killed for in their time. That shit is literally amazing. Me, I also find bikes interesting. They're very simple machines that get you where you want to go almost as fast as a car, but give you great, impact-free exercise while you're getting there. They can go many places cars can't and they're fun. (And they're so cheap and durable that people in just about any country can afford one.) I think for the most part, good continues to persevere. Because we seem to keep going forward. |
