I'm sitting on the Graphisoft park shuttle and there's a Hungarian, Indian, and a guy from Dubai comparing prices and work habits in their countries and it's really interesting.

Love this.

I thought she was setting up a joke. "A Hungarian, an Indian and a guy from Dubai" walk onto a streetcar . . . "

Love this.
Add Tonga, Equator and Angola and she could be in Miami.

Of course she'd also would have a good chance of getting mugged in Miami. :)

Glad she's happy. My oldest is itching to go to Austria--the youngest to Paris. Me? I'd like them all to be 8 and coming safely home to their dinner and their beds every night.

Where's Ax to question your ability to let go (as he's done here before)?

How may daughters does Ax have leaving home?

Interesting if apocryphal story my daughter once related. Nothing to do with Ax. So in Freshman year my daughter and her friend were talking about going home on spring break to an Asian friend--and they started discussing how they were going to get hugs and kisses from their family and the Asian girl said: I never got a hug.

Maybe it has nothing to do with Asian reality but it moved me at the time.

Nothing to do with Ax as I said.

My mom always wanted to hug me and tell me she loved me. I eventually learned to tell her I love her too.

My dad was cut off from that stuff. I'm not sure which of us told the other we loved them first, but I know it was only recently. It's still uncomfortable. And we still shake hands rather than hug.

But growing up, I was always more connected emotionally to him than I was to her. I guess I just got him. And I got that he loved me.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

BTW, I think it's sweet that you want to keep her close to you. The dad and daughter relationship is darn important .

That's what counts, that you appreciate one another and know it. :)
