I may just have to go All-Aqua on my boss...

I retired. For about two months. Then I un-retired. Went to work in the financial services sector, making about 60% of what I used to make...Heck, my retirement check is a third more than my paycheck! But, it was different and kinda fun.

I now have a new boss. Very nice lady, lots of experience, everything from a broker in her younger days to a couple of decent mid-level jobs with Citi****.

The guys I'm working with tell me I have produced more business, in less time, than anybody hired for my territory in the last decade. Problem is, I'm not real good playing the typical Corporate BS games. So now, if I'm approaching deadline or some small stone is left unturned in the corporate world, this nice lady reminds me where my paycheck is coming from and how fast it can go away.

I'm wondering what I can do, to possibly giver her a coronary and have her fire me at the same time...

Remind her in uncertain terms that your muse in life is Popeye. Then if she mentions it again follow Larry's advice. Middle level managers are always terrified.

I have no doubt that if this keeps up, she'll get what she deserves.

Check with the state, you may not be able to draw unemployment if you're collecting a pension.

Call her bluff. The next time she gives you that cheap threat, say, "Fine," and keep on walking; keep on doing your tasks just like always. If she calls her bluff:

Is there such a thing as a written record showing you as a top producer? If so, get a copy and keep in about you at all times. Produce it, and wave it in her face. Mention that you, too, can do some reminding to Corporate if she pushes the point.

If there's one thing I've learned in my working life, it's that the majority of people who promote to manager do not know how to manage. This is even more true for women. More women need to learn to differentiate between business management and being a mommy.

Mik is right; they're mostly scared. The less bright ones don't know that you know that.

I'd find someway to get her disciplined. Jon is right, check with your unemployment office about your eligibility.

Definitely check, they may not care. They don't care, for example, if your spouse makes a million dollars a day. They don't care if your investment income is the same. They may not care about a pension, especially not a state pension.

But they might. So check.

You will have a maximum amount that you can collect in unemployment benefits, based on
your eligibility. During your benefit year, you may receive weekly benefits, up to the maximum
weekly amount you are eligible to receive. Any earnings, pensions, accrued vacation, holiday
pay, severance or dismissal pay, and wages in lieu of notice must be deducted from this
weekly amount.

I did tell someone if the didn't like the way I did things, perhaps she should find someone more to her liking. She knew to back off.

Maybe your boss has a boss who might be interested in how she treats her staff?

What? You guys trying to save her from herself? You guys trying to make her be a better manager?

You sir, are right.

One of the rare times, I admit. But right, nonetheless. :lol2:
