Yes, cable management is a good thing.

I run mine under my bed.
When your living area is in the center of a large room, and the outlets are all on the walls, there's another way to get wires to your lamps, etc:

I ran an extension cord through it, and then an outlet strip near the sofa.

Works nicely, and not too noticeable on the floor.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

If your fingers are so nasty that you have to use those Gawdawful, tacky looking things called Decora so you can wash them, then you're just too nasty for words.

Not at all. I give my switches the occasional spritz with the cleaner stuff.

yeah. I guess I do so when painting a wall; seems right to freshen stuff up....but cleaning light switches is not on a regular cleaning schedule. life is short.

It's obvious you've never been a landlord.

Let's see....

Right now I have 32 houses rented, 16 commercial properties rented, and another 20 that I am owner financing to people. So I figure if there's an average of ten light switches in each one, just for sh!ts and giggles, you understand.. that's almost 700 light switches to include in this little experiment. I have had to replace old light switches, I have had to replace broken light switches, I have had to replace stolen light switches.

Maybe that doesn't qualify me to be called a landlord, I don't know - but I can't think of a single light switch in any of them that I ever had to wash.

Hell, I have light switches in cattle barns that have never needed washing.

But then... now that I think of it, maybe it's because none of them are Decora switches..

And you'd think that given where I live I'd have to wash them constantly, given how greasy POSSUM is and all...

not to mention all that butter in the POTATOES......

Of course you do. Gotta get the possum blood and fur off before you eat. No such problem with tofu.

As for dirty light switches, that would likely involve teenage boys who work on cars. When we bought this house, I scrubbed and scrubbed the woodwork around the doorways and many of the light switches. Ended up just replacing the switch plates in some cases.

These were plates that had grooves in them, too. They were nasty to clean.

If you have a house, garden, yard, shrubs, garage, fireplace you have to clean switch plates, at least the ones near these features.

I just looked at my toggle switches. They definitely need to be cleaned. That doesn't mean I'm going to, I'm just noting that they need it. :whome:

There's considerable dirt build up around the toggle part.
