HOLY CARP!!!
Does your home have the old "toggle" style switches or the Decora style switches, and which do you prefer.

All my original switches are the old style toggles while all the switches added in the reno are Decora. I much prefer the newer ones, not only do they look better but you can flick 'em on with anything (ie. elbow with an arm full of groceries etc.).

New bathroom reno has the latter. The rest of the house has the former.

We have toggles and rheostats - dimmers. I would use the decora if I changed anything.

I have a few toggles with dimmer. It took me a while to even notice they were there.

Decoras throughout. But, my place was built in 1998.

Our 1921 house had toggles everywhere except the kitchen which we remodeled.

Talk or clap, the switch is from last century or maybe the one before.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

The toggle switches cost 39 cents. The other one costs 3 bucks.

Mostly toggles, several with dimmers, and decora in the downstairs bathroom. 1900 house, but the electrical has been completely redone.

We're going more and more to the dark brown toggles and switch plates. They look more appropriate for the era of our home. I got boodles of them for four cents apiece at an auction a few years ago. The triple toggle plates can cost as much as $4 each. Liking the 4 cent price am I.

Damn , I chose decora by mistake. Change my vote.
I detest being woken up by the click of these decora switches. I also leave early in the mornings, so I don't want to wake others up. I've decora now. Nope, don't like them.
Toggle is quieter. Quiet is good.

All toggles. They work, never thought about replacing them. Way more fun things to spend money on.

I just went and played with all my light switches to see if I could detect a difference in sound between them. Not really.

Footsteps would be much more likely to wake someone up then the faint click of pressing a light switch.

Because I have not yet acquired a debilitating case of arthritis, I'll probably stick with toggle for awhile.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

There is that, although the cost difference is less that 50 cents/switch on a wholesale basis.

Plus they gang nicely with modern dimmers and they're way easier to clean.

My ancient house has toggles. If I had a choice, I'd walk into a room and say "On".

I'm even getting impatient with things that require cords being stuck into outlets. They look so messy. I'd have everything remote controlled with remotes everywhere in little holders, painted to match the walls.

Motion sensing light switches have gotten very cheap, thanks is part to the State of California requiring them for the last 10 years or so in commercial applications.

Very convenient, especially in hallways, garages and such.
