ALCOHOL & DINNER FLIGHTS

Shortstop

As pilots, we become accustomed to being the only one at the table not having a drink with dinner.

With the Holidays upon us I would like to be honest about a personal flying experience where I apparently let my guard down.
Last night I took a dinner flight with friends. Somehow not thinking, I ended up having a few glasses of wine.

Feeling jolly, I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit. That's when I did something that I've never done before on a dinner flight -- I took a commuter plane home.
As it turned out, the weather at home had taken a turn for the worse, but certainly not a problem in a commercial airplane. I arrived home safely without incident.

This was a real surprise as I had never flown a commuter jet before. I don't know where I got it, and now that it's here in my hangar, I don't know what to do with it.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy
