May have talked about my troubles with Elsie. Or maybe not. Don't recollect if I have.

Anyway, I got Elsie as a Christmas present and she just didn't act right from the get-go. Her feed ramp was as rough as a Louisiana highway. You'd lube her up until she was slicker than snot on a brass doorknob and she'd still hang up, usually right after you sling-shotted the slide home and pulled the trigger.

So I tried the usual things...Wiped her dry and re-lubed. Got a tube of Flitz and polished her feed ramp until it wore down sooth. But things didn't start to clear up until I swapped out her recoil springs...makes her harder to load, but brings her into battery with a snap.

I think Miss Elsie's gonna be alright...

HOLY CARP!!!
Yes, a problems with a few Rugers. Seems to be more than just limp-wristing with them.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Shouldn't have to play gunsmith with a brand new weapon, especially one that has been in production for several years.
