That is why I'm surprised I awoke early. Been taking that blessed afternoon nap for the past three weeks. Unlike me not to sleep a full 7 or 8.

So I'm at the office already. Bah. At least it is quiet and I can get uninterrupted time in.

Why is it, the older you get, the earlier you wake up?

If I had started my working career at age 55, I could have made it to work, on time at 7 a.m., EVERY morning.

I sleep like a rock roughly 8 hours a night every night.

But you know what wakes me up in the middle of the night?

When I have a few beers or maybe a couple wines, instead of a normal 7:00-7:30 I wake up at 5:00. There is something about the alcohol that does it.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Yes, I've read that this is common, especially if consumed close to bedtime.

I love a mug of hot tea in the evening. Of course, I use decaf, but it still seems to cause trouble sometimes. Melatonin helps considerably.

Yeah, booze, especially wine, will give you that 3:30 wine wakeup call. I did not touch a drop last night, and usually sleep like a rock.

Helps us gals over 50, too. :lol2:

Seriously, last year I started taking ibuprofen every night at bedtime, and it has helped a lot. I have pain most of the day and every night. It has just been a constant thing for me to be in pain, and it's been that way since last spring. The endocrinologist says it's related to the weight loss, and it's going to be this way for a long time yet.

Buy stock in the companies that make ibuprofen. :lol2:

:) Hi Brenda! I've been working at C ostco since August. (Mr Jodi became unexpectedly unemployed mid summer and is having a hard time finding a job and we needed health insurance - which has just kicked in for me, and will kick in for him and the kids in February thankfully - so the health insurance bill goes down from $1600 a month to under $200, thank you C ostco). Anyway, I work in the bakery, and we have two MASSIVE (as in taller than me!) Hobart mixers (which I don't get to use, but I do occasionally have to clean). And everytime I see the name Hobart on the mixer, I think of you!
Post Holidays, they have to cut hours, so they move us newbies around the store, and I've been on the front end this week. They were short people on Monday, and nobody told the shoppers that shopping season was supposed to SLOW DOWN, and it was crazy, and they had to put me on shopping cart duty. I pushed 5-6 carts from the parking lot into the store about a zillion times from about 2pm - 9pm (with lunch and a couple of breaks) and it about killed me! Long story of how 800 mg of Ibuprofen helped me sleep Monday night and kept me from feeling like I'd been run over by a train on Tuesday (when they felt badly and had me box groceries all day instead).

Jodi! You still crack me up, this time about the Hobarts.

So sorry to hear about your hubby's predicament. Hope he finds something suitable early this new year.

In the meantime, kudos to you for pitching in with the Costco gig. Yeah, pushing groups of those big honkin' carts around for hours would have me begging for ibuprofen.

I have always had trouble sleeping since I was a kid. The green plant helps (for falling asleep, not always staying asleep) and the stronger stuff REALLY helped which is one of the reasons I liked it so much. :lol2:

I'm very sorry to hear that, Brenda.

For what it's worth: I have a wonky shoulder. I think it is disintegrating, from years of carrying heavy bags on long straps. Anyway, I can always tell when I've been eating inflammatory foods because the shoulder starts hurting. When I clean up my diet, the pain disappears, poof.

You might try that.

Guys,

Naproxen sodium is your friend:

Buy the generic and take as directed. If that don't cut it, you can bump it to Naprosyn levels, but you should use it at the lowest level of effectiveness - More ain't always better. Don't lay down right after taking it, unless you enjoy severe heartburn. I find it best taken with a meal.

You aren't as unusual as you may think.

I work with a lot of guys that are fixing to retire or have already retired. These are state workers (I still work with state workers, even though I don't work for the state) and if they haven't read the fine print and had their state health insurance for 20 years, the state will not pay their entire part (75%) of the retiree's premium.

I run into lots of guys who are working solely for insurance.

What foods give you inflammation trouble? I've never heard of this concept before.

I asked my doc for a recommendation of another pain med, and she did not recommend that one. Is it hard on the kidneys like ibuprofen is?
