Speaking of WWII... One of the arguments against letting passengers on the SS St. Louis enter America after they left Cuba was that there could be radicals amongst them. As a matter of fact Nazi Germany's own propaganda efforts perpetuated this claim, insinuating that the Jews were Communists. Our federal government's public statements regarding the refugees, as well as editorials from our newspapers, were all sympathetic but we still didn't let them land. A popular suggestion at the time was that they go to another European country. They were neighbors, after all, and a lot of the Jewish refugees already had family in some of these countries. And the captain was sympathetic, so that's where he turned the ship. Most of the refugees landed in adjacent countries, most of which were then invaded by Hitler's army. About half the people on that boat died, many of which in concentration camps. |

70 years ago some racists made up stories about innocent women and children being radicals. So now they should ignore/let in/coddle/feel guilty about confirmed terrorists sneaking into Germany. I'm having trouble with the logic. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

If not collapse, the migrants present an existential threat to Europe. Who said that? Secretary of State Kerry.
Hmm. "Problem," "Threat," "Existential." Interesting words. Maybe he is "afraid of widows and orphans." Maybe some James Taylor would help. |

And, Obama warned the Brits today that their relationship with the U.S. regarding trade, would put them in the "queue" as far as negotiations, should the June 23rd referendum go in favor of those wanting out of the EU. In other words, NO to Brexit. . . or else. |

I don't think that was really the tone of what he said, he's spelling out what should be obvious if the UK opts out of free trade with Europe. A lot of people are pretty worried about the consequences of a Brexit. And let's face it, anything that Michael Gove, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage agree is a good idea is pretty much guaranteed to be bloody stupid. |

I'm highly critical of our immigration policy, but let me ask you a question, George: Should refugees be denied entry because the likelihood for conditions like TB is higher? By that logic, Americans should be denied entry to most countries due to a higher likelihood for obesity. |
