From The American Interest's "Seven In The Morning" dispatch: New Poll Paints Russia as a Global Outcast The world has a generally unfavorable opinion of Russia and its pugnacious leader Vladimir Putin, according to a new Pew Research Center report. It's no surprise that a country like Poland would be leading the pack of hostile opinion, but it turns out that the publics of France and Germany are not far behind. Even Venezuelans are twice as likely to hold unfavorable opinions of Russia as not -- surprising finding, given that both countries' governments have similarly antagonistic views of the United States. Only in Vietnam, Ghana, and (notably) China do the majority of people have a favorable opinion of Russia. Even across the Middle East, where the United States enjoys the lowest approval ratings, Russia is taking a beating. "Russia is spending more than one-half billion dollars annually to mislead audiences, to sow divisions, to push conspiracy theories out over RT television," according to Representative Ed Royce (R-California). Perhaps it's time to reconsider those investment priorities. |

HOLY CARP!!!
|
I agree that neither of them are beholden to political correctness. Putin is an uncommonly straightforward politician who is not afraid to tell people what they do not want to hear. |
