HOLY CARP!!!
I know I haven't been around much lately, been working lots of hours which leaves me little time for much else. I log on quickly at least once every other day, even if I don't browse the board I at least check my PM box.

I'm about to head to bed early as I have a very early start tomorrow, but I thought I would check in here quickly first.

The plant I work at is still in "start-up" mode and they still need tons of overtime, for which I always gladly sign up. For the May long weekend they needed people in so badly they offered time and a half plus $10 for every hour worked Saturday and Sunday and then double time and a half plus $10 for every hour worked on Victoria Day Monday itself. I put in quite a few hours that weekend!

I'm still an x-ray operator, though tomorrow my company is sending me to the Multivac Canada headquarters for a 2-3 day Multivac course. I don't know if they want me to start training as a Multivac operator or if it's just part of their plan to have more people cross-trained. At first I wasn't enthused about going because I really like my job, and running a Multivac is a lot more work and responsibility, but it is more money and the training course looks good on a resume since so many companies use Multivac machines. Plus they said they chose me to be in the first group going for this training because I have the best paperwork of all the xray operators.

I've been working afternoons. Since the plant is in start-up they just put people where they need them. Last week we all filled out our shift preferences, as shifts must be given by seniority as per our union contract. An exception was made while the new plant was still scaling up. I chose all the early shifts as my first choices, fingers crossed that I get one, though my hopes aren't high as I'm about middle of the list in the department seniority wise. There are about a dozen people transferred from plants that were closed to opening this one and they have first pick of shifts.

Training is at 8am at Multivac headquarters in Brampton, 54 mins away according to google maps, but traffic might be bad getting that close to Toronto on a Monday morning so I'm leaving at 6am.

Finally
Getting in on the ground floor is a good thing. It gives you seniority, and you'll be able to move up the ladder for better positions.

Good on ya!

In 10 years, you'll be running the place.

Glad to hear you are getting ahead! Take any training they want to give you, and never, ever refuse an advancement. You won't be offered another one.

I have to google some of this stuff to understand what you are doing...

Nice update, keep up the hard work!

Also...it's quite rude for someone to lurk occasionally and post even less so. Especially if they blame it on their busy job. What nerve!

Thanks for the update Riley!
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?
