Back from California! Took daughter on a trip with us to see Mammoth Lakes, Yosemite National Park, and some of Sequoia National Park. Helped her move to her summer dorm. Spent some fun time together before she started her summer research job at Mudd.

Now it's time to do laundry, take care of the yard, and get back into the work routine.

The cats missed us. The little one had a sore front leg when we returned, which the vet checked and determined was an arthritis issue. She's doing better now with some anti-inflammatory/pain meds. I can relate. Ibuprofen is a wonderful product. I'm still getting healed from an active and fun time.

I've tried to keep up with many of the threads here, but I know I missed some while we had limited internet access. Anything I should know about from the last couple weeks?

We're all the same as we've always been and therefore we are who we are. I'm pretty sure Valdez tried to punch one of us, or something. I dunno.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Any good prison threads from him? Could make a good country song from his posts?

We change every day, if only a miniscule amount, and some of us recreate ourselves multiple times in our lives.

You're not the same person you were even two weeks ago, Horace. I can see that all the way from Minnesooooota. :)

Valdez is engaged in a love that dare not bray its name.

Mark has gone to work for the IRS.

Riley has invested in a Canadian chain of hearing aid stores named "Eh?".

Mik has fulfilled a lifelong dream and is now a shift manager at McDonald's.

George is retiring from medicine and becoming an engineer. A locomotive engineer. He rides cheaper that way.

Jon, in preparation for his move to North Carolina, has learned how to cook Possumbriand. With grits.

Horace is now working for the 49ers front office. God knows they needed the help.

Bach and George got together and had a good time. Bail at 9. Film at 11.

Aqua proposed. Chelsea Clinton said she already had a boyfriend.

And Larry has willed his penis to science.

Other than that, same crap, different day. If you ain't the lead dog in the pack, the scenery never changes.

Welcome back brenda. I assume all is going well with your brilliant and talented daughter. You must be so proud! I was at Palo Alto recently, meeting with some very brilliant and creative scientists and engineers. So inspiring to be in their presence. I'm sure that's the kind of future in store for her.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

With that avatar you're lucky to be permitted around food at all.

Welcome back, Brenda. Everyone else has covered things, and I can think of little to add. I got to know and really hate Ballsqueeze. Still, he serves a purpose: Next to him, this gang of ruffians and ne'er-do-wells comes across as downright respectable. Well, except for Jolly who keeps shouting about ammunition.

Ballsqueeze will be glad to know he serves some small purpose here. ;)

Glad you're still here after all that. Looks like you might have the ability to make yourself at home with us. Not everyone can manage that, and I'm glad you can.

It's adorable, and you can't say that about most Renaissance art.

McDonalds? Really?

When you think fine dining, think McDonald's!
So that's why my local McDonalds now offers the McMorel.

They paired it with a fabulous McCabernet and fries.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.
