HOLY CARP!!!
Stupid rule change. No rule change should ever, ever, make kickers more important. I like the part where 2 point conversions are going to be slightly more common, but they'll still be rare as far as I can see. Beyond that, kickers now play a more important role in the final outcomes of games, and that is exactly the wrong direction to go.

They should have chosen the rule where a team can take an automatic extra point, or choose to go for 2, from the 1 yard line.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

John Carney was interviewed yesterday about the new extra point distance. Some background on John:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Carney_%28American_football%29

He felt that PAT percentage would go down to about 93% overall, but would be even lower in outdoor stadiums, especially in windy weather. He felt that the new rule would expose some kickers, and accuracy would be more desired than distance. He also opined that teams would be putting in 2-point "playbooks", whereas they used to use their regular short yardage goal-line plays.
