Girl gored by bison at Yellowstone She was maybe 3 feet from it getting a picture. When she turned her back to it to pose the bison evidently objected and gored her. They do the same thing with elk, moose, whatever. I just don't get it. |

Buffalo can be tricky. On his first foray into injun country, Custer was galloping far ahead of his men when he saw his first buffalo. He galloped next to the beast, pistol cocked, but when he dug the barrel into the fur for the kill shot, the buffalo veered into the horse and Custer head shot his mount instead. Custer walks for hours, covered in horse brains, his feet bleeding, afoot and defenseless in injun country, until his men finally come upon him and he laughingly recounts his tale. Juan |

spent half hour googling the custer story, lots of mentions in google books, in custer bios...(google "custer shot his horse") although i have no clue of the veracity of any of these sources, it would seem the story was more about the absolute stupidity of shooting a firearm on a galloping horse, and less to do with any tricky buffalo behavior. custer is quoted as saying his actions were"rashly impudent". in other words, pretty stupid. as for buffalo, as any bovine creature, from milk cows to yak, they can charge if in any way threatened. The buffalo veered into Custer's horse. Tricky or not, it was effective. On the other hand, Custer could have shot his horse for a number of reasons. A buffalo might not have been involved. It was Custer' s story after all. Juan Edited by Valdez, May 18 2015, 09:20 AM.

To you, I'm Native American. Tell me Ballsqueeze, what happened to you when you were a child to make you end up being such a miserable asshat? Wouldn't your momma let you nurse? What caused you to be so pathetic that you have to come to an internet forum where no one likes you in order to have any hope of human interaction? To my friends, I'm an injun. You're not my friend. So when you say it, it's racist. |

i just had to say, this. don't know juan valdez at all, and i never like to stir up things, but i need to interject here. i disagree with larry on many issues, although I'm not the confrontational type, and i stay out of most political arguments anyway. (i hate to mention to larry that i have voted democratic in every election since i was 18,, first time in 1976 for good old jimmy, may the lord give him what he deserves.. ) however, since larry posted this in 2006 http://s10.zetaboards.com/The_New_Coffee_Room/single/?p=530789&t=357699 i tread with the utmost caution and respect regarding anything concerning native americans in north america, because even though i read it 9 years ago, i still remember feeling the pain conveyed and i found this last post of valdez, frankly, in extremely poor taste. (in spite of the fact the i celebrate thanksgiving even far away here in the holyland) larry may be loud and brash, and an injun to boot, but he would give the shirt off his back to help a friend, or even a non friend, in need, and for that i forgive him all his republican nonsense. just my 2 cents. |

Jaysus, Chief-Sh#t-In-The-Bucket, if I'd known that's how you felt I'd have cued the violins. Curious that someone with your thin hide and Thanksgiving sob stories doesn't mind passing off racist jibes at the President as humor, or, more recently, posting a picture of fried chicken as bait for the Baltimore rioters. Hell son, nearly every peckerwood in the south brags about their injun blood and the closer you get to Texas and Oklahoma the bigger the brag. No one takes it seriously. So why would I be impressed with your silliness? Come to think of it I probably got more injun blood than you do. Juan |

I have no doubt that you Texans try to brag about being part indian - hell, you need *something* to make you feel good about yourselves.. But as it happens, my mother is a full blood Cherokee, and my father was Cherokee/Scot. So I am certain that any native american blood that might linger in your veins has been completely watered down by the inbreeding of your white relatives. I've told you already, Ballsqueeze = you do not get to use the word injun. Now - someone please tell me why we have to be subjected to this miserable prick for one more day. |

again with all due respect, we are a group of people, (not just an Internet forum)!who have been tossing the bullsh1t for ten years now, many of us who meet in real life (I'm meeting george in 2 weeks for some chinwag), who have rejoiced in each other's happiness and mourned the passing of members (see that little apple logo up there) and I find it hard to comprehend someone barging in here and making fun of ones background without really knowing the man. I try hard to post here as I would talk to someone in real life. In real life I think a normative person (which I assume you are) would step back, maybe even, dare I say it, apologize, and carry on instead of again trying to get in the last word that he is more injun then someone else give it a break. we can tolerate all views here. But don't piss on a mans honor. That's just not decent. I'm finished on this subject for now. Ps: all capitals are iPhone caused. |

It's not Larry's honor at stake. It's his ego. In any event it's hard to take him seriously. Serious tribal members don't mark a warriors image with bumper sticker nonsense or identify themselves as members of the Pokatwat tribe. Although the twat part is likely closer to the truth. Being a member of a tribe is about heart not blood. It always has been. So, when was the last time you visited Larry for a, er, chin wag. Does he really dress up as fat shirley in that brunehilda gear? And what's with all those puppets? Juan |

Juan, Larry's ancestry and how he conducts himself have nothing to do with how you think he ought to act. That's just how it is. If you don't like the guy, okay, but using that to justify calling him a liar about his background is petty and ridiculous. We've all known Larry for quite awhile. It should be obvious why he has friends here, even among the liberal commie pinkos. My prediction is that over the long term, you're either going to figure that out or you're going to leave. |

This has nothing to do with my ego, but everything to do with "Valdez's" ego. This man just popped up one day, and without so much as a "hello" or even one tiny little attempt to introduce himself, began attacking people with the ugliest, most mean spirited mockery of people. I wasn't even here when he first came. By the time I got back, he had already insulted one, maybe two people. I stood up to him and defended the honor of someone that I consider a good friend from personal attacks attempting to mock that friend, and now, after several others have been mocked, Bach stands up to defend *my* honor. In between those two events, even after mentioning to him several times that he needs to take the time to introduce himself even a little bit, he has yet to do it. He seems to think he's in some anonymous chat room. Yes, I've given him a hard time. I feel sure that most of you understand why. I'm not the type to sit still while people I care about are mocked. He has now decided that it's ok to mock someone's racial makeup. There is a line being crossed by this man that we, without ever actually saying so, established from day one, and that is that certain things are not acceptable here, and racially motivated personal attacks (as opposed to the good natured joking we might sometimes engage in) is not acceptable. Therefore, this man is not acceptable in my opinion. This doesn't need debate. The man must go. |
