HOLY CARP!!!
My friends are all planning to go skydiving this year for one of our friends birthday. I said I'll come. It would probably be an incredible once in a lifetime experience.

But I'm also f*cking terrified. :hair:

I went a handful of times when I was about your age. It was fun. Thrilling, really. I tried bunji jumping too.

Thank god no one had thought of BASE jumping yet, at the time.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Skydiving won't hurt you.

It's that sudden stop at the end you have to worry about. :)

You will LOVE it! YOLO!

Not that I myself would ever willingly jump out of a perfectly good airplane in a million billion years.

Riley, it's one of those things that, as you age and takes on more responsibilities for others, you become less inclined to do. So if you figure you want to do it at least once in your life time, do so while you're still young and have no dependent.

Of course there are other things that family life inhibits. I want to put a bat box in the back yard. My Favorite Redhead is not entirely in favor of this. By not entirely I mean the 'over my dead body!' variety.

I told her they eat mosquitos by the pound, and if one happens to land in your hair, a rare occurrence, they are far more frightened than you are. Really.

Remember... you don't need a parachute to go sky diving.

You only need a parachute to go sky diving twice....

Bats be cool.

The pond at the Cheddarshack® grows tons of mosquitoes. However, they don't bother us too much because of the bats that are all over the place at dusk.

But, yeah, go for it Riley.

I've thought about going skydiving over the last couple of years.

I'm afraid of it for obvious reasons.

However, I'm also afraid to NOT go skydiving because you only live once.

Go an a roller coaster ride. Cheaper, easier, same feeling.

Not as much of a story, but there's no real story to going sky diving anyway. And if it comes to it, just lie about it. Yeah, I've been sky diving.

There are only a couple dozen skydiving fatalities per year in the US. These are intentional falls.

In 2013 there were 556,000 deaths in the US from unintentional falls.

It sounds to me like it is safer to fall intentionally.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Yeah, note I didn't say "safer". Roller coasters are only cheaper and easier. Skydiving is just a thing that simulates danger without actually being dangerous. And it's exhilarating for the weightlessness and speed of it.

There's nothing weightless about freefall.

It is pretty awesome though.

If you weighed enough, you'd know it was weightless.

There's physics involved and there are weight limits for the tandem stuff.

Maybe if there were no atmosphere. But falling through the air at such a speed feels anything but weightless.

I wouldn't think that going on a roller coaster ride would feel a lot like skydiving.
