I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Another very entertaining lunchtime here in New England. One of the lab-techs got quite animated with me when I mentioned Lance Armstrong in passing.

People couldn't seem to decide whether Brady didn't cheat and was totally unaware of what was going on, or whether everybody is cheating and it doesn't matter, or whether they should change the rules to stop this sort of thing sullying the good name of the Pats.

Anyway, pretty much everybody thinks I'm an asshole

So, they'd be welcome here and fit right in.

(you can't simply throw a slow and outside pitch like that and not expect someone to take a swing at it, can you?)

Just talk to them about how the Cricket is going; that'll change their opinion readyquick!

"Fucking haters, man."
"Most certainly!"
"There's just no evidence at all Brady was in on... well, whatever's going on."
"And we all know that Rashid's been known to bowl a few bad balls an over but he usually turns it around, doesn't he?"
"What?"
"What?"
I cite irreconcilable differences.

… and a few million $.
Walkin' around money for Brady. It's about $1.8 million for him.
Quote:

Though Tom Brady wasn't fined, he is scheduled to make $8 million this season. Being suspended 4 games costs Brady about $2 million.
Also the Pats got a $1 million fine (chump change) and lost two draft choices.

I'm sure he's a lot more concerned with the asterisk he's earned than the 2 million he's lost. It really isn't about the money.

Yes. He was the one who said 'I regret that I have only one asterisk for my team'. Or something like that. It was around Boston anyway.

This is all a setup

Brady is going to the Canadian Football League and challenging the NFL to a showdown

The payday will be huge

He is so awesome

Meanwhile, remember what happened to the Saints, for something which did not have any effect upon the outcome of a game:

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told Saints coach Sean Payton that "ignorance was not an excuse," when handing down punishments for the Saints bounty program in 2012.

Payton was suspended for the 2012 season, linebackers coach Joe Vitt for six games, and general manager Mickey Loomis for eight games. Former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was suspended indefinitely.

The Saints were fined $500,000 and gave up second-round picks in 2012 and 2013.

Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma was suspended for the 2012 season, former Saints defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove for eight games, former Saints linebacker Scott Fujita for four games and Saints defensive end Will Smith for four games.

Sad, and a bit of a risk for the guy who started it. What happens when Kraft refuses to cash the check? (Which he will - probably not a great look for a billionaire to be accepting donations from the masses.) Will the guy holding the check be in a compromised position then? Is there a way to give the money back? To divert it to somewhere that will accept it and which is in line with the GoFundMe stated goals?

So, I have to choose whether to fund Nepal or whether to pay the Patriot's fine.

That is a genuine first world problem.

It's a good thing that the pizza makers and bakeries were not included. That would have made your decision horribly difficult.

There is a simple explanation for everything.

You might want to hold on the FundMe it is probably no longer necessary.

Patriots issue rebuttal to Wells report, say conclusions 'incomplete'

Patriots Rebut Wells Report

The Patriots issued a rebuttal Thursday to last week's Wells report. Among the key points made by the team:

• The Wells report dismisses "scientific explanations for the natural loss of psi" by rejecting ref's recollection of which air gauge he used

• Text messages acknowledged as being humorous were interpreted as a "plot to improperly deflate footballs"

• No evidence Tom Brady preferred deflated footballs or that anybody thought he preferred flatter footballs

• Report does not address whether 1 minute, 40 seconds -- the time Jim McNally spent in side trip to bathroom -- is consistent with the time that it takes a gentleman to enter a bathroom, relieve himself, wash his hands, and leave.

• "Deflator" used in text messages was a term McNally, John Jastremski would used "to refer to losing weight."

-- The complete rebuttal can be read at wellsreportcontext.com

Proof that one does not simply tell a billionaire that he's going to make an ass of himself. One just lets it happen and trusts the billionaire will be completely insulated from the public perception anyway.

Anyway, it will now be one of the greatest days in the history of Western civilization if one of those two townies comes clean.

Near universal (outside of Cheats fans) opinion, from everything I heard and read today, that parts of the rebuttal would insult the intelligence of any lower primate.
