Nick Satan and the Crimson Elephants took it on the chin last night. Ohio State and Oregon to the championship game. My prediction? Oregon. |

I'll be happier when they go to an eight team format (it's inevitable - look at TCU, Baylor and Michigan State this year), but the current format is creating what was needed - an "on the field" crowning of the national champ. Urban Meyer is doing the same thing for Ohio State, that he did at Florida. Recruiting SEC speed and size, while doing a better job with the X's and O's in his offensive scheming. Ohio State may have the best chance of the Final Four of beating Oregon, since much of OSU's running game reminds me of Arizona's offense. Still, I think the Ducks have improved since October. I'll stand by my prediction, but I don't think the game will be the blowout like the Oregon-FSU game. |

If you can take your team to the national championship with a third string QB, well, it is hard to predict. Last night would have been a blowout if Braxton Miller had been playing. It was all about the turnovers. |

Well, I guess it doesn't hurt when your QB is named 12-Gauge.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool. I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss! - Cecil Lewis
