Last Saturday my extended family got together for our Christmas party. My cousin was hosting it this year. The neighbors across the street from her were already taking down their Christmas decorations. My cousin's explanation was "They're like that".

As for us...Sunday we sang Christmas carols at Mass. And just today, our cards were delivered. :thumb:

This is definitely nothing new to me. I suspect that most of us in Christian traditions that follow the liturgical calendar continue to observe Christmas throughout the 12-day period to Epiphany, in one way or another. Even when I was a kid, we kept our decorations up throughout the entire period if only out of respect for the Orthodox families in town, who celebrated the Nativity on the same day the Western church tradition observed Epiphany. I always thought it was odd when people seemed hellbent on getting all their Christmas decorations down and packed away immediately after the 25th.

I'll answer your other comments later, but my primary priority for the rest of the evening is to get drunk." - Klaus, 12/31/14

I see you've met my mother, Dewey. :lol2:

If possible, she and my stepdad take down the tree beginning on the evening of the 25th. By the 26th, it's all put away.

I think the reason for a lot of people is they have the 25th and 26th off work, and want to get all that done before they return to the hustle and bustle.

Yeah, I was speaking in general terms, not referring specifically to your mother.

You don't want her to know that, Riley.

Don't worry. I'll keep your secret for you. ;)
