The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

My hatred of Disney stuff is such that I really can't find these all that funny—It's what they freaking do!
I cite irreconcilable differences.

I'll be at WDW next week!
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

BBC had a special about the author of Mary Poppins (forget her name) and how the Disneyfied version ("Saving Mr. Banks") of her involvement in the movie was as much a fantasy as Mary Poppins was.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

That's a point that was made in the documentary. Though his vision of the world (and in the case of Mr. Banks) is sugar-coated, there's nothing wrong with that vision, as long as you realize it's probably not the whole truth.

I don't hate everything they do—in fact I'm really looking forward to the Star Wars movies; I'm glad they're doing the next series and not Lucas—but I have a big problem with the stuff they pump out for kids. The values on display in just about all of them are vile.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Is Disney all to blame, or should the authors of the original tales on which those Disney animated features are based share the blame, too?

The values on display in just about all of them are vile.

Conquer evil with good!

That is the persistent theme to pretty much all of the stories.

This is vile?

I don't think so. I think it is wonderful and we need a lot more of it!

Read the originals and decide for yourself.
Because of language barrier, the true originals for some titles are out of my reach. Best I could do was reading their translations.

My opinion is that the they share the blame.

Consumers who choose to consume Disney's products also share the blame.

After so many centuries of fighting for republican form of government and after so many decades of the feminism movement, I find it depressing that many parents still want their young daughters to be little princesses.

What is your answer to my question?

Their daughters want to be princesses, Ax. It's children's imagination. If that is all you feed them, there may be some issue with that, but I don't know a single parent who does not support other role models for their kids. The point is to raise them such that they can be anything they want to be, not only hideous, angry androgynous drones the feminazis will support.

Hell, don't you raise your boys so that they can be princesses too if that's what they want? What if they are transgender kids? By providing only male role models you may be stifling the woman they might grow up to be. You bastard.

Since when is the feminism movement anti-princess?

You may have feminism confused with feminazi. These are two very different movements.

Feminism encourages women to grow, feminazi demands slavish devotion to tired, caustic rhetoric.

Now, see, that's the sort of "every ideal is just as good" platitude that plagues our society. You should not support a young kid who wants a return to monarchy or rigid paternalism just like you should not support a young kid who wants to establish a caliphate by martyrdom.

I meant to type "feminist movement". Damn autocorrect on the iPad.

It is so typical left that he man with no daughters from a culture that often aborts girls in favor of boys is telling me how I should raise my daughter. A more perfect example I could not have googled.
