You're not going to believe this George, but even before opening this thread I knew it would really be an example of lack of civility by some member of the blue tribe. That, despite your thread title suggesting otherwise.

Isn't there a GKSR for something like that? :lol2:

It's because Republicans are never rude, Jon. They're refined, intelligent people, who always take the high ground, and never insult people on a personal level. I for one cannot imagine somebody like Sarah Palin, Mr. Boehner or any of the other great conservative leaders of our generation ever being anything other than honest, honorable and respectful of both their loyal supporters and even of those misguided enough to think they're a bunch of worthless douchebags.

You just can't trust those white people.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Who would have thought that such a dreadful leader would get re-elected so convincingly?

Been predicting it for years. Of course, I'm not the first, Ben Franklin was.

You've got a guy in the Whitehouse willing to give money away he doesn't have, to people who pay little of no taxes, in order to buy their votes.

You confidently predicted that President Romney would be elected on a number of occasions, if I remember correctly. :)

As far as Obama goes, he's not the first either. You've had plenty of sub-par politicians and presidents. American exceptionalism doesn't extend to its politicians IMHO, they're just as crap as everybody else's.

I wasn't in favor of that one,either.

Not because it wasn't needed, but because we couldn't afford it.

I thought Romney would be elected. I still think if he'd run a bit better campaign, he would have been elected.

The point of my original snarky comment is that Obama got elected not because he was the best man for the job, but that he was up against a pretty poor set of candidates.

Remember the GOP primary? My God, what a bloody freak-show. My favourite bit was Herman Cain's supporters attempting to pull the race card after he was outed as a philanderer - 'waaaaah -- they're only saying this because he's black!!!' - no, you cretin, they're saying this because you harrassed and diddled the staff. Even more hilarious when you consider how often they accuse the other team of doing the same thing.

I was just pointing out that it perfectly fit your prior description. Spending money we don't have on voters who pay little or no income tax (net burdens on society) in order to secure their vote for his reelection.

I would even say it was cynically conceived, timed, and largely passed for that express purpose.

At least when the left buys votes with unaffordable programs they generally believe the programs are progress toward their vision. I don't think Rove and Bush can offer up that excuse (even I'm not so cynical as to suggest that corporate welfare for big pharma was the vision they were serving, though it no doubt helped with the congressal vote)
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Look, I'm a Republican and I agree with you about the primary process. Republicans are their own worst enemies.

Sometimes, I think the smoky back rooms were a superior way of choosing candidates.
