The Khorosan Group Does Not Exist; It’s a fictitious name the Obama administration invented to deceive us.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

JB, I'm an avid reader of NRO, but I tend to skip pieces when I hit a sentence like this:

his ... worldview, which holds that empowering Islamic supremacists is the path to security and stability.

I read the site because it contains some well thought out conservative viewpoints, useful for challenging my own. It also throws red meat to the converted. This piece is straight from the chum bucket.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

He has a better handle on what Islamic Supremacists are than anyone in the administration.

It is too bad you can't look past some hyperbole to let him make his point.

Conversely, it is too bad he could not make his point without hyperbole. :silly:

I am still trying to fathom what you find objectionable about that quote. Maybe his "worldview"? Okay, I can kind of see that although the rest of the article ties that in. arming Islamic supremacists? Well, isn't that what they are doing? Is the path to security and stability? That gets back to the worldview thing but, again, he ties that together if you read what he says. You might not like the argument, you may disagree with his reasoning but you really have not shown any reasoned counter argument. You might just as well have made the same objection to the subhed and not have read anything at all.

You could easily make the case that Sharon and Bush's actions were dispositive in handing Gaza to Hamas. You could also say 'Bush and Sharon's worldview was that empowering terrorists in the Palestinian Territories was the path forward' or something like that.

One is a position that you could argue for or against, the other is a caricature that announces to the reader 'please don't take me seriously'.

Perhaps you will find the form of this more to your liking:

The substance, however, is the same.

Whether or not they are 'core' Al queda.

I mean, as Obama said, it's a group of seasoned al queda operatives plotting stuff against the west. So we take them out. Call them what you want.

I'm reminded of Dawkins dismissal of essentialism: (paraphrasing) "put aside the discussion of whether or not he's tall. Just say he's 5'10" and let's move on from there."

If that is all you get from it I can see no prospects for a serious discussion here.

One moment of Obama being half-assed truthful is not all that is coming out of this administration. It is very difficult to defend all the other things they are saying but I guess you knew that.

I certainly agree this doesn't warrant a serious discussion.

That is one way to look at it. Probably the easiest for you.

The question is did the president deliberately lie in order to protect some imagined political advantage and by doing so knowingly put the country in danger?

I think the answer is clearly yes. And not just once, and not just many times, but continuously.

If you need a cite, just Google Obama lie.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy
