Wow. This was my teenage experience. I even worked in the mall from 84-86.

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

What a horribly ugly time.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

There doesn't seem to be enough cigarettes in those pictures.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

One thing that stands out is that you didn't see many obese people. They all looked relatively healthy.

Your teenage years, jon? How young are you or perhaps more accurately, how old am I? :P

That was my childhood. I spent HOURS playing Golden Axe, that very game. At Quik-Stop. Likely wore that guy's freaking shirt, too.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

With all the money they spent on hair-care products they didn't have enough left over for food. Looking that cheap costs a lot of money.

I loved the clothes then. The shoulder pads, and the leggings and the leg warmers. Some of that seems to be coming back.

Surprising who generic the malls were, and probably still are. Several photos looked like they were taken in the malls around here that I would visit.

TapeWorld? Really, that was a real place?

Fashion trend I most miss was the oversized sweater that would fall off a girl's shoulder.

More smoking there.

Smoking helps keep the weight off.

What a horribly ugly time.
I don't recall people then wearing their trousers halfway down their legs, being tattooed from head to toe beyond the wildest imagination of any self respecting Maori or with multiple piercings in and around their mouth and facial area. To me all that is far more ugly permanent and personally degrading than any big hair mullet from the '80's.

Just curious ... when do you think is (or was) a beautiful time?

General question for every one, not just Horace. Feel free to chime in and tell us about any historical period that you like aesthetically. :)

Interesting question. Probably mid to late Victorian and Edwardian era up to the end of WWI.

It might have looked nice, but I don't know about the smell.

That's why people back then smoked profusely.

I was smoking in malls as recently as 1998.

I can't believe they found a picture of me outside of Tapeworld. I think I still have those shorts.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Old people look pretty much the same, you'll notice.

If I ever go out and buy a pair of those freaking white trousers, someone needs to put me out of their misery.
