How accurate is Edmunds?

Just had fun at a car dealership. The price they were asking was $3500 more than Edmunds TRV for that model year in our region. The mileage was a little lower than would be expected, but nowhere near enough to justify the difference.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I noticed a big gap between Edmunds and KBB. I assume one is more dealer friendly and the other is more retail friendly.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

KBB is geared towards dealers from my understanding. It's where they will typically start their negotiating

For used cars, dealers down here use NADA.
It's been years, but for insurance claims we used go with the NADA (Kelly Blue Book was viewed as having inflated values) for more accurate values.

Nowadays insurance carriers use computer databases that supposedly track actual selling prices.
Kincaid - disgusted Republican Partisan since 2006.
