Need a new fridge

Mine is crapping out, too old to replace the compressor.

I had sub-zero before, but they have reliability issues and aren't worth the coin.

Any brand recommendations? Or brands to avoid?

I'll be buying French door, freezer on the bottom type.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

A friend of mine just bought a Bosch. That thing does everything but cook the food for you.

Best fridges & freezers I've seen are Gaggenau. Wealthy in-laws bought a matching pair of 6 footers the week they moved house 22 years ago. Had new cupboard doors since, but the german appliances have been fault free.

Over here Liebherr makes the best fridges. They seem to be excessively expensive in the US, though: At Amazon, they range from $3,000 to $8,000.

Jenn-Air here. Yes, they offer the French door and freezer on the bottom.

The one I have is a Jen- Air. Fridge guy says its a good brand. It's ok but I don't love the interior, it seems cheap after my subzero in Brooklyn. But the subzeros are unreliable and horribly expensive so I won't be buying one of those.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

The fridge guy would say that. Big profit margin. I wouldn't go higher than $1500 or so. Not necessary.

No, I mean the fridge repair guy. He liked all the whilpool brands.

I like Whirlpool too. Had them up in Ann Arbor. Very solid I thought, and the stovetop cooked really well. I did not think I would like the smooth top electric, but I really did. It was very responsive.

Apparently Kitchenaid, JenAir, Whirlpool, and Maytag are all the same company now (Whirlpool).

We were deciding between Electrolux and Samsung and went with the former after hearing that the latter might need parts from Japan if it went down. Not sure why that matters, when your fridge goes you pretty much need to just get the new one and fast. The alternative is to throw out a lot of food.

Also Amana, Admiral, Kirkland and several others.

Our 10 year old Whirlpool box works just fine but I doubt the one we have is anything like what they are building today. These things change regularly.

Ended up getting an LG, counter depth, but 24.6 cu ft, very large for counter depth. It has water and ice on the outside, which I was trying to avoid, but the one without that fit my needs was backordered.

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

our current fridge (about 1 year old) is our first with water/ice dispensers through the door. I love not having to open the door (and lose all that cooling) and I love the chilled and filtered water. Don't know how I made it to almost 50 before getting it.

I like the idea of it, but when you read the reviews all the negative ones have to do with those parts. That was true on every make I looked at. They also take up space in the door.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

And in the freezer. I insisted on one without ice and water because of all the time I have spent fixing those of my friends. I do de maintenance limbo, mon...how low can you go?

The setup in my Whirlpool lives on after 10 years. I rather like the convenience of it.
