It would be hard to compose a single sentence with so many errors in it unless you were deliberately trying. Sorry, he's not a Marxist - that's just a stupid assertion made by someone who has absolutely no sense of proportion, or maybe just no sense. Same thing goes for dictator - buy a freaking dictionary. Furthermore, he's not savvy at political chess - I suspect he doesn't even know what en passant means. For the last 5 years everybody's been telling us how completely hopeless he is at the sophisticated stuff. Make. Up. Your. Freaking. Mind. |

Not everybody. Remember yesterday we had the guy who said ObamaCare is a fantastic success. |

Well obviously there's no shortage of delusional idiocy on the other flank, however that shouldn't detract from the stupidity of this article. |

You're straining at gnats and swallowing camels, kinda like the Rachel Maddow piece that Jon linked. (If Maddow said it was raining, I would walk outside to look). Fact: The EPA is closing this plant. Fact: That means no more domestic lead production. Now...that doesn't mean a whole heckuva lot to me. I've been casting my own stuff for years, using everything from linotype to wheel weights, but the vast majority of people who buy ammo, do not. Fact: There is no bullet material as cost effective as lead in achieving terminal penetration and expansion. At least for now. |

No, I'm pointing out that the article is hysterical bullsh!t. Conspiracy theorists piss me off enormously. The fact that they actually get airtime is the third worst thing about the internet after the proliferation of child pornography and articles telling us how to build nucleur (sic) weapons. This type of rubbish sits right up there with Glenn Beck and his idiotic comparisons of the Obama administration and Adolf Hitler. Over 100 years of public education, and this is what we get? Jesus H Christ, don't these people have anything sensible to contribute to society? If nothing else, their resignation and suicide springs immediately to mind. |

Sir, You really need to understand how to accomplish things politically, especially when you do not have majority opinion behind your actions. You might want to consider moving down here for awhile and we'll teach you how it's done. |

I find no whopper here. I find a concerted effort by this administration, to make ammo as expensive as possible, either by EPA edict or by creating artificial shortages. As for peanuts, we boil or parch them. Or make an excellent frying oil out of them. |

Sorry but I don't buy it; the part about the the federal g'ovt making ammo as expensive as possible. The part about boiled or parched peanuts I can accept. |

It might be easier to buy if you look at Mr. Obama's actions to make guns and ammo difficult to obtain. This is no secret conspiracy, this is his stated objective. More expensive = more difficult to obtain Here is one list of some things he has does, you could find many more: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/01/obama-calls-on-congress-to-pass-gun-laws.html |

That would be front door gun control. Something many people wholeheartedly agree with as it happens. It appears that American conservatives are currently rather obsessed with back-door matters, in one way and another. |

Well my oh my, isn't he just the crackerjack. Not afraid to tackle the nation's misplaced obsession with personal firearms head on! Good on him. Obama's beginning to look good on the US of A. |

The nation was created in no small part because people owned personal firearms. I'd say it is more respect than obsession. And the respect is well placed. |

Back then almost everyone owned a black powder, smooth bore muzzle loading firearm of some description. Most were probably used for hunting and varmint control. In the absence of a well organized and efficient system of law enforcement some even carried muzzle loading firearms for self defence aganst bandits. In fact, did you know that loyalist colonists in what later became the Dominion of Canada, even used their personal firearms in Crown organized militias to defend themselves along with British regulars from republican terrorists attacking from the southern colonies during the colonial revolt of the 1770's? I bet you didn't! How that relates to the firearm obsession of present day USA I do not know. Were it not for the fact that the USA is the single largest source of illegal firearms smuggling into this country, I probably would not care either. So what's your point? |

No, it's an obession. Not only with weapons but personal property in general. The infamous American civil war was essentially over the right to personal human chattel property. The right to bear arms discord in the USA today is not all that dissimilar. |

From my personal experience (admittedly in namby-pamby New England rather than 'real America') there's a lot of Americans who don't really care that much about guns, however the squeaky wheels are very, very squeaky indeed. |

You would be surprised how many Americans no longer own slaves. |

Just as I am sure you would be surprised as to how many Canadian families of Unted Empire Loyalist ancestry never owned slaves but still own firearms. |

Turning their back on the very values that helped form this once great nation! It's clearly a slippery slope from abandoning slavery to allowing gun control. |

You know, I think there are two Americas, now. One is coastal. Urban. Affluent. The other is "fly-over" country. More rural, but with some fairly large cities. Not as affluent, but more grounded. |
