So this is getting interesting with Home Depot

A couple of weeks ago we ordered a new stackable washer and dryer from Home Depot. They arrive 10 days ago and the dryer doesn't heat up. We call them up and last Wednesday they bring out a new dryer. This dryer doesn't work. The installer tells us it's a problem with the electricity. So we have an electrician come out and test it. Everything is fine. So I spend an entire day making sure the venting is spotless. Still doesn't work. So this morning I had an appliance guy come out and check everything over. Turns out that while that the control board for the heater element is only rated to put out 120 which according to the technician is no where near enough power. So we go up to Home Depot to make arrangements to return the pair. Their response? They will be happy to take back the dryer and give a refund, but since there's nothing wrong with the washer...

Did I mention this is a stackable set, and another dryer can't be matched with this washer?
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

First you go over this dickwad's head. I would bet you get satisfaction.

If not, Better Business Bureau and the internet are your friends. Ask the window guy who is paying me a grand a month until I am satisfied.

HOLY CARP!!!
Sounds like a new government mandated eco-friendly drier designed to dry clothes with less electricity and extended drying times.

Which dickwad? The guy who's following company policy? Blame the company, not the guy who works there and is just following policies. Front line/entry level workers, don't usually have any power to waive company policies.

Can you upgrade the control board. Call the manufacturer.

Why the HELL would you want to mess with that? Would you trust a manufacturer after they sold you an underpowered one to begin with?

The manufacturer didn't sell sell them the unit, Home Depot did. There should be minimum requirements to install the dryer.

Dickwad may not be the proper term - unless the guy was being a dick about it. However, if I had laid out my story to the Home Depot guy as L'sD did to us, and in light of what L'sD has had to deal with in time and expense of getting a tech out to check it, etc., anything other than Home Depot guy moving it right up the chain of command is a bit of a dick move anyway (unless there is a policy against unilateral escalation).

And the set is going back. Now we just have to find another set that will fit...

That's the way it should have been resolved the first time. Doesn't make you want to shop there too much, does it?

OK, so now YOU are the dickwad in the customer's eyes :lol2:

Worse, your company's relationship with them is damaged. I repeat - no one ever won an argument with a customer.

Sometimes making them go away and never coming back is a victory, and also benefits the company.

I've got stories I can't repeat here

Well! Though this was a pain in the butt, I now get the washer and dryer I wanted. Landlord upped the budget and I get the LG 2.3 front load washer and dryer that I originally picked out that he said was to expensive. :excited:

Got enough clean undies to last that long?

Glad to hear you're getting a good set. We'll probably have to go shopping for a new set in the next year, too. Ours is from 1988, IIRC.

Nice, we have an LG set we inherited with this house. I like them a lot.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
