Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the contract to build the failed Obamacare website. Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company. Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni. George Schindler, the president for U.S. and Canada of the Canadian-based CGI Group, CGI Federal’s parent company, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company gained the Obamacare website contract. "Someone who works for the company that got the contract went to Princeton". Ho hum. I'll bet most large government contractors have Princeton grads on staff. If not, maybe a Harvard grad, which would have garnered a misleading headline about Obama. |

All the article says is she graduated from the same school as the presidents wife. Again, there probably aren't any large government contractors about which that wouldn't be said. How is that possibly news? |

Well, the government has rules about that, its allowed sometimes, not allowed others. If they followed the rules then its not going to keep me up at night. Haliburton got lots of no-bid contracts in Iraq. I'm sure they have hundreds of employees that went to SMU, Laura Bush's alma mater. That didn't bother me a bit. |

I am surprised it was a no-bid contract. I acknowledge that there are rules about it that I am sure will prove to have been followed, however, not sure why the gov't would not get bids on something like that, or why we are just hearing about it now. |

What surprises me is how little evidence people need to assume fraud, kickbacks, or other type of abuse by politicians they don't like, or even their families. Even when the implied nefarious act defies all common sense. Just kidding. It doesn't surprise me in the least. |

I have to agree. There needs to be more to it than what I have seen. Government procurement is rife with fraud , much of it to get around the rules. For instance, when the government wants a given product and has to send it out to bid, no problem They just write the spec in such a way that no vendor other than the one they want can possibly meet the requirements. Problem solved. That said, it does not follow that everything is flawed. I kind of doubt the POTUS or FLOTUS were much involved in the vendor selection. |

No bid is ok, if it works. If it doesn't work then it is a problem. What's even worse with this is that someone was stupid enough to take that chance on a project this visible. And even worse again it appears this happened because nobody even cared to follow up and make sure it was working. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |
