Comments section after that article is a particularly nasty fever-swamp. Wow.

I wonder if anyone at Channel 8 thought to wait for a statement from United prior to publication.

Journalism, and all that.

There will be millions of people who used to be uninsured coming on-line any time now.

They will need millions of doctors to take care of them.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Termination letters went to physicians caring for Medicare patients. Those letters were sent out to doctors caring for 'Medicare Advantage' patients. It's a plan, marketed to Seniors to provide additional services through UnitedHealthCare.

I read this again. What an odd story.

1. What good is a United Healthcare Advantage plan when they have fired all of the doctors who were contracted to provide the care under that plan? Will patients who paid for United Healthcare Advantage insurance be receiving refunds? Does CT have a state insurance commissioner?

2. Why would United dump doctors who accept Medicare when those doctors are (presumably) the lowest cost and most efficient out there?

3. Is this the same United who recently pulled a similar stunt in Florida?

4. What has changed to make United change their mind about selling Advantage plans? They must have thought it was a good idea at one time...

and

5. (For Aqua) That paragraph is a mess. Does channel 8 have a proofreader/editor on staff?

I'm sure that pointing this out makes me some kind of uppity snob, but, well, there it is.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Was it "all" of the doctors who were contracted?

I'm not a proofreader, someone help me out.

HOLY CARP!!!
Perhaps this is a way for them to side step some kind of obligation on their Advantage Health Care Plan. Keep the plan but have no doctors that you have to pay?
