none about the car.

But I bet the dealer is wondering why there is a sudden rush of interest in this particular vehicle in terms of internet traffic.

That would be a good choice. That is the first year of a redesign and it has a bit tidier dimensions than before - better looking too, IMO. Pay attention on the test drive to the tranny - it is a CVT (constantly variable transmission) so those can be a bit odd in the way they drive and sound. Completely smooth (unless they build in artificial "shift points" to give the appearance of normalcy) but they can have an annoying drone when accelerating or when cruising at certain speeds.

I do not know if it is a good deal, but I do know it is a fine automobile. Nothing will ever go wrong with it until around 120K.

FIFY. 120K is barely a warmup for these cars.

Have been driving Hondas with CVTs for years ... very smooth indeed, no complain. :)

Thanks all. Got a new 2014 Accord instead. It was more or less the same price, and had a better warranty. Pretty pleased with it. Hopefully don't wake up tomorrow with any buyer's remorse, but I don't think I will. This purchase was a long time coming. My old car was a bit of an embarrassment with its tattered upholstery and chipped paint.

After driving it home 20 minutes from the dealership I reached for the garage door opener and guess where it was... so I had to rush back to the dealership at 11 pm. I got there just as the last guy was leaving, and he was able to retrieve it for me. Lucky. They apparently throw away everything in the trade-ins the next day.

Had to wait 2 hours at the dealership from the time we agreed to the deal to the time I wrote the check to the financial guy. Ridiculously long wait. Me and the salesguy ended up going to Mcdonalds.

The only issue I have seen with Hondas have been a rash of transmission issues at 100,000 miles. As Karla and I tend to drive a car until the wheels fall off this was a concern for us. Our current Toyota is at 198490 miles... So the transmission issue was enough to reconsider Honda.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Congratulations, Horace!
Great choice!

I am partial to the Honda Accord -- I learnt on one, a very old one. :)

Yeah, my last old car also had "tattered upholstery and chipped paint" and demonstrably an embarrassment -- I used it to drive my then girlfriend's little nephew and her mother once and the little kid kept poking his finger through the upholstery and asking why there are holes there. :cursing:

Did it have "demonstrably and embarrassment" in addition to tattered upholstery and chipped paint, or was it "demonstrably an embarrassment"?

You should rephrase.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

I got that, just for the record.

Too bad you did not have some Bond options on there. Like an ejection seat.

HOLY CARP!!!
May your car give you many years of faithful service, Horace.

I drove a used '98 Honda Accord for years, from the time I finished college until I moved to Canada, and never had any problems with it aside from having to replace the CD player.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!
