Is the war in Syria over? I know they are supposed to be destroying the poison gas. But has the fighting stopped?
I watched the news a few times yesterday. Never heard the country mentioned.
Has the NYT-LAT declared us the winner and stopped reporting on it?

Clearly, the strain of having to read about something that wasn't primarily a domestic American issue has brought this country to the very brink. The government couldn't stand the pressure and everybody had to go home for a bit of a lie down in a darkened room, shakily clutching a bible (King James edition) and a handgun. One can only assume the rest of the population is doing likewise. Only here, at fearless TNCR, do we continue talking about thing that *matter*.

No VPG, the civil war in Syria has not stopped. Nor has a victor been declared.

To be fair, the gassing and bombing of large numbers of brown people is much less important than the US government shutdown, which is a disaster of almost universe-threatening proportions, so I can see why the media are struggling.

There is insufficient time to present news about Syria, what with all the merchandising tie-ins and funny videos and what not that pass for news these days.

HOLY CARP!!!
I think when the Nobel Peace Prize Winner had his diplomatic @ss handed to him by Putin of all people, the media quietly and conveniently lost interest in the entire issue.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Yeah, Fox does that a lot when it looks as though Obi-wan might be embarrassed

Pretty much not talking about Fox news. My Cable system has 100 or so channels. 25 or so give news.
So you're O. K. with 24 out of 25 not remembering there was/is a problem in Syria.
We were about to launch death and destruction on them (and ignore Obamacare problems), but it all went
away. Oh, but not on Fox.

It's gone away on Fox, too. My point was that if it goes away on Fox, it's hardly due to political bias.

There are 2 Syria stories on the front page of the Fox News web site. 0 on CBS news, 0 on NBC news, 2 on ABC news, 0 on Google news, 0 on Yahoo news, 0 on npr, 0 on bbc, 0 on cnn
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

There weren't any when I looked, however there are currently two on the BBC. Not exactly obvious ones, admittedly, they're lost in the small print.

Syria doesn't seem to be lost in the BBC's small print:

BBC does what News people are not doing in the U.S.
I found this one sentence on the above BBC link.

Jeremy Bowen reports from Syria on how US strike could have changed the course of the war - now agreement over chemical weapons leaves no end in sight to fighting on the ground.

In our outlets, they seem to think it's over.

See http://s10.zetaboards.com/The_New_Coffee_Room/topic/7470224/1/

UN starts the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria:

Seems to be going well so far.

Well OK, if you hit the Middle East tab it's right there.

Obviously, it would be too much to expect a US news service to have a Middle East tab. All Fox has is 'Sports', 'America', 'More America', 'Entertainment' and so forth.

Okay. So maybe Syria is now under Etertainment. About time for a blockbuster movie or TV miniseries?
