These weekend "biker gangs" are so funny. A bunch of middle class white guys with wives and kids and 9 to 5 desk jobs, who want to play dress-up on the weekends to pretend to be something they're not. It's not surprising that when actually called on to be tough, it ends with one of them paralyzed, and a few more being sent to prison. All in the service of bullying some Asian guy driving his family around. At least in prison, they'll have a playing field where they can really prove their toughness.
+1

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Several off duty cops among the bikers, and it sounds like one of them will be arrested.

Wait, when presented with a choice between allegiance to their gang and allegiance to the law, those cops choose allegiance to their gang?

I guess there's a first time for everything.

These aren't middle class white guys. Those guys ride Harleys.

This is mostly a black and latino phenomenon.

And, if you read the rap sheet on the guy who busted out the driver's side window, he had 21 priors.

Maybe in your part of the country. But I'm from the area of Harley Headquarters and Harleys were big with everybody who rode bikes and especially those who wanted to identify with biker culture.

Ah. Well, that does make more sense. But I wouldn't be surprised if the "gang" was interspersed with the sort of people I was talking about. But maybe not.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

An off-duty New York police officer was riding with the bikers Sunday and saw much of the confrontation that ended with five injured. But he didn't step in, an official said.

He also didn't tell his superiors about what happened until Wednesday, the source said. The officer, who works undercover, is a member of the motorcycle club.]]

Makes one wonder if he was protecting his undercover status or if he is being ingrained into the 'culture' doesnt it

Cops stick up for their own. This is not new. It's a club, whether a biker club or the Police Officers Union.

Note: this sort of thing actually never happens, according to Real Live Police Officers, who are the experts and not to be questioned.

Well obviously, compared to Canadians we're a total bunch of assholes, but you chaps are world-leaders at politeness, which rather throws a monkey-wrench in the 'armed society is a polite society' theory suggested earlier.
An example of [(not X) and Y] doesn't throw a monkey wrench in (X implies Y).

Not this part of the biker culture.

The real live outlaw gangs such as Hell's Angels ride Harleys, as do the smaller local wannabes. The middle-class school teacher and banker bunch that want to look like the outlaw gangs ride Harleys.

The guys talked about in this thread do not, at least not down here. Down here, these gangs are mostly black mixed with latinos. They don't ride Harleys, they ride stuff like Ninjas or CBR1000's.

But are the Louisiana Baptist Hell's Angels noticeably more polite than their Unitarian Northeastern counterparts? For example, do they say please and thank you whilst engaging in criminal activities?

Without all the facts, I don't fault an undercover officer for keeping his cover. I'm not sure how serious this guy's investigation was - was he just keeping tabs on a biker group or was he looking to bust up a drug ring? We don't know yet. But they've arrested the officer and posted his real name, and say that in the video he punches and kicks the SUV, and then leaves the area, apparently shortly before Lien was pulled out and beaten.
