I hope the Bast**d that ordered the American WWll cemetery in Normandy burns in Hell.
They have sunk to new lows.

Oh, I see, they shut it down.

A quote from a CBS story about it:

Quote:

Benjamin Joyner was among the veterans who were first rebuffed by the memorial's barricades.

"I just wonder what we fought for," Joyner told CBS News correspondent Jeff Pegues. "Back then, I had a pretty good idea, but now I just wonder. The way that things are going, they're not working together, they're working against this country, they're trying to destroy it."

I feel the same way.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

WTF?? Did anyone really 'order' the cemetery? A lot of people died there and had to be buried somewhere. And why are you pissing about this now? Wouldn't that have been Eisenhower or one of his staff that made the decision?

Oh - you mean its closed?

Its certainly a shame but I can't imagine any definition of 'essential' that it would meet.

There were many, many vets there to visit. 'essential' would be covered by the fact that
thousands of these Hero's are dying weekly. Time is running out for them. Paying their respects
to the men that died at their side may be their last wish. And because some heartless swine want's to show those bad Republicans a thing or two, they spit at these G. I's.
A handful of non-paid volunteers could have kept it open. But nice defense try.

Sorry I mis- typed jon, I'll try to do better next time.

Again, very very sad. But it isn't an essential government service.

Strawman. I didn't say "unlike the golf course at AFB, military cemeteries are not essential services".

Offense fail.

HOLY CARP!!!
It's so easy to get emotional over the loss of government function that's easy to display on TV or in photograph, isn't it?

Here:

Go argue to your heart's content what's "essential" and what's not.

Hmm. Not quite sure how the national debt clock is going up but the deficit clock is going down.

The cemetery like many local monuments aren't normally even staffed. They only barricade the WW II memorial for the shutdown. Normally it is open 24 hours a day and unattended for much of that time.

Mr. Obama is shutting down sites that can stir emotion. He knows how to make people upset. He knows that veterans consider sites like the memorial and the cemetery to be important.

He doesn't care whether they are important or not. He only cares that they can be used to take a poke at republicans. He is a 2-bit thug, this is a great example of that.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Not true, it closes at 5. It's been 10 years since I was there, but I believe it is gated off when closed. As much as it sucks to have it closed during Boehner's shutdown, it would suck more to have it vandalized during the closure.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

True.

It's normally wide open.

Closed means no NPS people there to answer questions.

That's the WW-II memorial in DC. This thread is about the cemetery in Normandy. It's gated, IIRC.

OK, so now you are just trying to make up for your mistake by saying you were talking about something else.

You can spot an Obama man a mile away.

Mr. Obama barricaded the WWII monument, which is normally always wide open, only to upset veterans.

He [Obama] is a 2-bit thug....
That seems to be a regular epithet you throw at the current POTUS. Is it a euphemism for some other term you would like to use but feel may be deemed inappropriate?

And btw, it was pretty clear from the opening thread that VPG was referring to the memorial in Normandy, France. jon was responding accordingly and not making up for any error on his part in response to VPG.
