I could imagine it ending this way. First one dissenter, then another, then another. Some momentum starts to build, and Boehner calls a vote.

Well, I think the optics of enough GOPs to make a majority with all the Dems would make it impossible for Boehner to sustain. So if it gets there or is obviously heading there, I think he'll cave.

(its worth pointing out that a vote on a clean CR would always have passed the house, but when it is manifestly the case, based on public statements of Reps, he won't be able to hold out)

That's my read anyway.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

ED HENRY, FNC: Jay, you’re saying you don’t know whether or not Iran will follow through on their promises, but the president did call the new president on Friday, of Iran, and sort of opened up diplomatic negotiations. So why not do the same with the House Republicans? You’re at a loggerheads, call them!

JAY CARNEY: I appreciate the reassertion of Republican talking points, but the—

HENRY: I’m sorry. What don’t you at least talk to them? Even if they’re wrong!

CARNEY: Can I remind you that it was the Speaker of the House, in several venues, who said at the beginning of this year, that he would never negotiate with the president again. That he felt that doing so burned him…

HENRY: So call him out, bring them over here. Force them to negotiate.

CARNEY: Maybe you didn’t catch up to what the president just said, but he said he would be talking to leaders of Congress, and…

HENRY: So why are they not meeting today?

CARNEY: Um. Again, I have nothing new to report on the president’s schedule.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I don't know. A Huffpo poll earlier had 51 percent blaming the Dems for being inflexible and 46 GOP.
