Early this morning while waiting for another show to start i decided to 'listen' to a documentary on a cable channel here, it was "The Traci Lord Story" she was a porn star of the 70's and also just 16 when she filmed her first porno anyway on this documentary they included scenes from her movie and im talking full frontal nudity of a 16 yr old girl, cant see how it should have been even allowed to have aired because im pretty sure it is illegal given her age in the film clips

I wait with baited breath for a reply from the channel involved to see what they say

I know that at the time all her photo's, magazines and movies had to pulled up the shelves in America and destroyed except for one state which had a strange law that said while it was illegal to use under aged teens in porn movies once it was made it was ok to air it (summarised)

If you dont know who she is google if ya friend :bluewink: shes actually gone onto main stream acting these days and has done movies and tv shows, looks very familiar to me

Don't know about Down Under, but 16 is the legal age of consent in the U.K.

Oh, we are quite familiar with Traci Lords over here, yes. She has tried to get into the legit film business, but I don't believe she has gotten nearly as far as she did in porn. Her IMDB filmography is less than what I might call distinguished.

That said, she has risen above where she started as a teen, much much too young and exploited by her mother's boyfriend, to have a relatively successful career that, if not mainstream, is at least not x rated. More power to her.

Jolly is that the age they are legally allowed to star in porn movies? or just legally allowed to have sex? big difference

Mik it did seem to have a few shows on the list, i did a wiki read of her career and she has done quite a few movies and tv shows

I know here 16 is the legal age of consent but im pretty sure full frontal nudity and staring in porn shows isnt allowed until 18 years of age which is why im waiting to hear back from the channel to see what they say and actually thinking of having the boys in blue in Canberra answer the question for me then at least i will know the legalities of it all

She has, but nothing of any great repute. Much of it has been trading off her past life.

As I said, I wish her the best. It must be very difficult to establish a career that does not always link back to the past.

Great, but heartbreaking recent NYTimes article about child pornography. A lot about the pain of their having their images all over the internet, irretrievably. Finally, though, according to a new law, some victims are winning compensation from viewers. Legally, complex. The stories of two young women, forced to be child porn stars are given including the legal stuff. It seems that forcing the viewers to realize they're real people, suffering from the distribution - and of course, the sex abuse behind it  - makes a huge difference to the exploiters. The viewers, not the abusers (they never seem to "get" it).

I'd think it would be massively worse for a young exploited teen. At least, the children stop looking as much like themselves on film (although, their "fans" are horribly good at recognizing them).

The Price of a Stolen Childhood

Ina Jang for The New York Times
When Nicole was a child, her father took pornographic pictures of her that still circulate on the internet.

The detective spread out the photographs on the kitchen table, in front of Nicole, on a December morning in 2006. She was 17, but in the pictures, she saw the face of her 10-year-old self, a half-grown girl wearing make-up. The bodies in the images were broken up by pixelation, but Nicole could see the outline of her father, forcing himself on her. Her mother, sitting next to her, burst into sobs.

Letters from the Justice Department are sent each time someone is arrested or appears in court for possessing pornographic photos taken of Nicole when she was a girl.

The detective spoke gently, but he had brutal news: the pictures had been downloaded onto thousands of computers via file-sharing services around the world. They were among the most widely circulated child pornography on the Internet. Also online were video clips, similarly notorious, in which Nicole spoke words her father had scripted for her, sometimes at the behest of other men. For years, investigators in the United States, Canada and Europe had been trying to identify the girl in the images.

True, however hardcore pornography was illegal in the UK until 2002.

Its all terribly sad Amanda, the penalties just arent enough and the victims suffer for years however in this case even at 16 she knew exactly what she was doing and only claimed 'victim status' when arrested but was clearly a very willing participant

Unfortunately young girls are still NOT getting it and continue to take or allow others to take photos of them that have them looking 'hot and sexy' without realising once its on the net its there to stay and will come back and bite them one day and thats usually when they have established a great career and some of these images can become blackmail material, have tried and failed to convince a young friend that those 'sexy' self portraits will one day come back and hurt her and possibly her children if/when she has them but how do you protect one from their own stupidity?

I was watching celebrity rehab with Dr Drew a while back and it had Amy Fisher on and shes this big 'porn star' and i cant help but think of her boys when they go to uni going to a mates place for beer and pizza and having one of 'MUMMIES' porn movies shoved into the DVD player .... can u just imagine the horror of that not to mention other male friends and family members possibly being exposed to it

I am very pleased that ANYONE is arrested over this just not those who partook in it, poor Nicole i really hope her future is brighter but i fear the damage is already done, i have strong views on this subject, as do others, i just see red when it comes to the supposed 'grown ups' who do this sort of crap and to me public floggings should be mandatory, let me know and ill be first in line with my rotten eggs at the ready

Nothing from the tv channel yet, i know it was listed for a re run sometime today but missed to see if was actually aired, i think it was during the day this time, i am very tempted to contact the big boys in blue to see if it possibly breaches any laws here due to her age and if so is it allowed during 'daytime' tv

I'm sure you're "only" referring to victims who are at least 16 (as if that were enough!) - not children of ten or so - like Nicole - who was simply raped on camera while also being made-up and scripted to turn it into a plot, however shallow. (And most disgustingly, pretending to show she was willing and eager).

I have strong feelings too, and it makes me plain sick - the same, I gather, as you.
The children, as I said, are slightly safer later on - at least, from the POV that they become less recognizable.

Still, as it says in the NYTimes article, they are raped and re-raped, every time the images are downloaded. One of these two girls (Nicole?), said with sad pleasure when a judge expressed this thought, "He gets it!" It meant so much to her - the money is secondary. It really serves as an expression of caring. In our society, that is the Western world, payments indicate tangible recognition of right and wrong.

These children need that so much. That's why lawsuits often bankrupt victims and families. People desperatelly need validation for their victimhood. Otherwise, implausible as it is, the victims can continue to believe the Big Lie that they invited the abuse - that they are even more responsible than their rapists. Little children!

After all, the abusers, feed them this line. And it's so powerful a persuader, it becomes one of the main reasons they don't report the crimes however clear it may be to the larger society that they were tragic victims. My Lord, little kids!

I can still hardly stand to picture it. And in the West - not in Calcutta, Thailand, Africa - 3rd world countries "out there".
Apparently most young prostitutes picked up now IN THE WEST, entered the "Field" at thirteen. On average! What about the ones below that age?
