Cheers
Or imagine if that thug on the Ravens had done time for the murder he was involved in?

LD, I disagree. The crux of this game was SF's last posession. Should have kept it on the ground. If a Super Bowl team cannot grind out five yards in three plays to win they have no business being there.

Srsly. They knew the Ravens would give K no time to work and the field was so small to cover that a pass was a low percentage shot. Football 101.

Completely agree. They *lost* a game they should have won.
The dogma lives loudly within me.

Problem was that the Ravens put in essentially their goal line package at the 5 yard line. They were determined to not allow the run. The 5 yard line is the roughest spot on the field to run the ball. From the 3 or further in you can power your way in one yard at a time if you have to. From the 7 or further out, the field opens up because of the possible passing lanes. From the 5 it's mich more difficult, and Baltimore essentially said if you're going to beat us, you're going to beat us by throwing the ball. The only knock on Kaepernick this post season is his lack of touch. He can muscle a ball in a tight spot, he can gun it down the field, but he has more difficulty with the touch passes. Thats why his redzone passing numbers have been abysmal, so the Ravens sold out on the run to make the guy have to throw it. Their gamble worked.

The bigger mistake by Harbaugh West was the timeout on 2nd and goal from the 5. Take the penalty. An extra 5 yards of space would have helped open things up a little. Then even if you don't make it, you at least have 2 timeouts and still another chance to get the ball back with enough time to drive the ball. Heck, I might have even kicked the three with 1:45 left and 2 timeouts and trust my D for one more 3 and out.

The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.
