HOLY CARP!!!
Not sure if they've always done this or if it's new this season - but the "good singers", the one the producers expect to do well and know will do well through the pre-taped episodes, are having reverb added to their first auditions, to differentiate them from the competition even more than the fact that they happen to have taped back-stories.

Is this new?
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Then again it might just be the venue, I'll have to watch next week. This is the first one I've seen, not sure if it's the first one of the season.

Yeah they're definitely doing something different. They even extend it to the visuals, the bad singers are portrayed with an old-timey grainy film effect as well as a reverb-less recording quality. Not sure if they have to add the reverb for the good ones or if it's just two different mics positioned differently. Seems like they're recording in a cathedral so there are some good acoustics there.

When I run sound there is always a little delay and reverb mix in the vocal mic's,not uncommon at all, If you suck as a singer all the delay and reverb in the world is not going to hide the fact that one can not carry a note. Now every singer has there own amount of each they want, but in general I always have a little of each, usually more reverb than delay, but that depends on the song i guess.
